At this point when I get home I just turn the wheel all the way and reach in with a wrench and give it a snug, usually holds for another three or four months after doing that.

I'm hearing some coil bind from time to time. Like the springs twanging/releasing when turning while parking.

Do your springs have the rubber insulators along the coils? Some binding noise is unavoidable. My Ohlins had the rubber sleeves and still got that twanging noise every once in a while when at full lock.

No, there's no rubber insulators on them.

In other news, sigh. Why the fuck is Yes so close in the running to No.

Either I'm deaf or I have selective hearing since I don't hear any from my FRS.

stock suspension is silent

some coilovers are silent

some coilovers are loud AF

Clipdat is on aftermarket coilovers. For spring binding you need to ensure you have good pivots and bearings, the get dirty and gum up, even a little plastic disc can alleviate a bunch of noise.

Bilstein ships with a lame little plastic disc shown in blue in the bottom right as a ghetto bearing to reduce spring binding.

OE spring perch up front rotates extremely easily and provides little resistance, some camber plates aren't as free spinning, but iirc Clipdat has Racesengs which should be good as long as they're clean and lubricated. I'd be surprised if that was the problem but the springs could be binding on lower perches or with the helper/tender spring.

My FRS is on Tein Flex Z. Our old Camry had spring binding and clanging. At first I thought it was the dampers, so I replaced them with some TRD ones. Lol. Nope, wasn't that. I didn't want to spend more on replacing the springs, so I just let it be.

Exactly 5 years ago today I bought my FR-S! I signed the paperwork and bought it completely sight unseen, no test drive no nothing.

This is the first picture I took of it upon seeing it, followed by a recent shot of how it looks these days. 5 years and only 24k miles on it! And no door dings!

Happy 5th year of ownership to my fucking badass street legal racecar!

Looks good! That's about how many miles I put on mine; I'm averaging 5k a year, 90% of which is in the Santa Cruz mountains.

In other news, since I quit drinking alcohol 5 months ago I've dropped 15 lbs.

How's that for weight savings?! Butt dyno is feeling awfully peppy! Driver mod FTW.
