So I was driving in Daly City this morning and this 2015/2016 STI pulls up behind me driven by this guy probably in his 50's or thereabouts or he looked older at least.

So I'm thinking, this is cool, just a couple subies on their morning commute and it's an older guy driving a performance car, so that's cool.

2 mins later (long red light) I look in my rear-view and the guy is puffing and there's a bunch of vapor in his car.

Its easy once you have done it once or twice and remember which direction to push the lever. I can see it as long as I use a light.

And you should have no problem reaching it. My fat ass can get far enough under and my car is pretty damn low. Like i cant drive redwood/mines/etc without bottoming out multiple times.

lol, still contemplating it since I'll only be changing the oil on the FR-S once a year given Amsoil is good for a year and I'll only put on maybe 120 to 300 miles a month now. I may get it for the Yaris tho (sucks since I installed a new regular drain bolt on it when I changed the oil).

Which oil cooler did you go with? How does the oil cooler affect the oil change process?

I plan on get an oil cooler after I pay off the car to get it ready for the track.

I have the Perrin: http://perrinperformance.com/i-13427...-s-brz-86.html

You have to add an additional quart of oil when you install it, to accommodate for the additional oil volume that goes through the core and the lines.

Then, when you do your oil change, obviously it's impossible to get that extra oil that's stored in the lines and core out of there. So, it just remains inside there and you refill with your 5.8qt as normal.

Some people don't like that dirty oil is left behind, but really what choice do you have?

With an oil cooler, you will need to typically add about ~0.7 more quarts of oil. Always check your oil level (with or without an oil cooler). If this is not already a habit, make it so.

The oil in the cooler does not empty out during a typical oil change, but it does cycle oil as its main purpose.

Once you get to tracking your car, you will need to do a lot of oil changes. It's a cheap investment relative to the abuse your engine will go thru.

I think it's a solid car, but there are a lot of other cars that I would rather spend 40k on. Hell you could buy a new Civic Si and have a nice project car on the side for the same price.

For less money you could have a new 6-speed Chevy SS. Not exactly the same category of car, but just as fun I would think.

Even tho it's a quick car, I can't stand the looks of the new CTR.

As a former Subaru owner with questionable taste, I'd hit that...

^This. As cool of a car as it is, I'm already seeing dealer mark-up sending this to the $40k range, which puts it in the same class as the RS and STI.

The hype is strong in this one...

^This is true! Even just the regular civic hatch has a lot of hype on it that they are putting mark ups on them too. Experienced it when I was in the market of a daily hatch. Crazy! But this one is growing on me too.
