Do what you want, but for a 9" wheel the minimum I'd go is a 245, even that is a slight stretch, 255 is better.

Also with 245/40 you pretty much retain the overall diameter of stock which means your speedo is still accurate.

245 a stretch? We have very different definitions of stretch. Depending on which coilovers I end up getting, if I can't go as low as I want (I'd sacrifice that to get better, more reliable coilovers), then I'd go with 235/45 tires.

Would be that if I don't end up going lower.

Eh, screw it, I'll probably just go with Fortune 500's and 245/40/17. Not sure if I really want to deal with being too low, especially having to drive on Hwy 37 at night.

Now, RPF1 or 6UL (ET40)....

How bad/annoying would it be running wheels without TPMS sensors?

Do you like seeing this on your dash 24/7?

yeah it's pretty annoying... one of my sensors appears to have died unexpectedly and i hope to bring it in to the dealer and get it replaced under warranty. Not sure if they will give me any grief over the fact that I'm on aftermarket wheels, or claim that the tire shops I used damaged them... but I intend to get it fixed even if I have to buy a new sensor.

I plan to get new gauge faces eventually that block it out, but I'll live with it for now. Dont really have a choice since I sold my tpms with my stock wheels lol

Blaine could use all the sidewalls he can get with the most minimal wheel allowed in his class, his build has a purpose.

As for a daily, 245 on a 9" is fine. Anything lesser, will be in the stretch department but great for going low and fitment of many coilovers. Anything more, could be a compromise with coilovers, assuming 9" wheel and wanting to go low.

Build matters a lot. With wider tires you can lose steering feel and crispness on inputs.

Currently I run 235/45 Continental DW on a 17x9. These are known for having a softer sidewall so I wanted a bit of stretch to help stiffen it up and keep some of the great response I had in my Bridgestone S-04.

Also another thing to keep in mind is not every tire is the same. The actual tread width can vary a lot. Ex. a Bridgestone RE71R (current top dog) only has a 7.7in tread width compared to Dunlop ZII* at 8.7in. One would stretch a lot more than the other.

Pic for reference. Some probably wouldn't even call this a stretch (I dont really see it as one even).

I've run several different 245/40/17s on a 9" wheel and some stretch more than others but it's never a lot of stretch.

The 245 RE71rs has zero stretch. They almost looked like 255 ZIIs to me.
