I'm only averaging 35 mpg (since buying my car back in April). That's with me trying really hard too (with going WOT from third to fifth 1-3 times a day). Primarily freeway driving (dealing with Hwy 37 and 101 traffic).

Well what are you getting?!? That's what the computer tells me!

I've never tracked my FRS but my 2.0t GTI got 3-5 MPG on the track. I'd did slightly better but really about the same at autoX.

Was getting out of my car at lunch today and a guy walking his dogs looks and says "Scion sure has come a long way" and I replied: "Yeah, this is what happens when they get help from Subaru"

Not a technically "accurate" statement, but I was the best thing I could think to say at the time.

In other news, I want this STi: http://www.carsmithmotors.com/web/us...rnia/16175916/

Brit on a Wife sentence in Cali checking in.

It's for a couple of reasons - mainly because most of the Brit stuff you will hear in the US is mainstream pulp made specifically to appeal to everyone. Accent reduction classes are a big thing for showbiz people.

Another factor is the massive influence US music and culture has over there - when maybe 50% or more music you here there on pop radio comes from over the pond. I'm guessing its a sub conscious pull to sing like people who influenced you. Source

Also Vocal cords play a part

Maybe the American accent is just a more natural (better) way to talk than the British accent??

Did you know the American English dialect is actually closer to "Old English" than the current British English dialect?

That's an interesting point you bring up there. I agree that I think its mainly due to the audience the music is being aimed to. If you look at country music or blue grass for example, they lay on the accents extra thick since that's the audience they are aiming to. There have been other Brit artists (Lily Allen comes to mind) who do keep the accent in most of their songs.

Tried to warranty stock tires at Livermore Subaru. I was told it was "normal" for lowered cars.

Even though I only got lowered about 1500 miles ago and my tires exhibit no camber wear with my mild alignment.

Oh well. I always knew it was a long shot. Costco is having a $70 off sale on Michelin tires so I may just pick up a set before the deal ends at the end of January.

Yep, I tell everyone that asks me about it that my accent is slowly devolving then explain the old English thing when they get inevitably offended.

Ask Costco about it. When I went to the dealer asking about warranty they didn't really know anything.

Yup, every set should cone with one. That sucks to hear since that pretty much makes then useless (for you at least). Which kind do you have? OEM? You might be able to borrow one from someone in the area. Did you get it from the dealer? I'd demand for one I you didn't get one.

If you have OEM, go to the dealer and see if they'll replace it. I lost my key somehow and they removed the old ones and gave me a new set for free. I was certain that the dealer didn't give it back to me when they did a rotation so that might have contributed.
