well, tomorrow is gonna be spent with the lady, cruising sedately down Hwy 1 in granny mode... no full throttle run through the gears, no tire-screeching cornering.

On the plus side, there's some yummy fish and chips and maybe some salt-water taffy and chocolate covered bacon waiting at the end of the drive.

oh man, funny we didn't see each other... we were in Santa Cruz too! Lunch at Half Moon Bay, cruise down Hwy 1, parked and walked around at the Santa Cruz Wharf and Beach Boardwalk. Bought a GRIP of salt water taffy and candy at Marini's...

So I got my tail lights replaced last Thursday, and whadaya know? condensation this morning. E-mailed the dealer some pics and asked about getting another replacement and got this reply:
Quote:
HELLO BRYAN, WE RECENTLY GOT YOUR EMAIL FOR YOUR LIGHTS AND BEFORE WE ORDERED THEM WE HAD TO CONTACT SUBARU. WE SENT OVER THE PICTURES YOU SENT US AND THEY SAY THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION FOR LIGHTS. WE WERE TOLD THAT CONDENSATION IS NORMAL AND ONLY TO REPLACE LIGHTS IF WATER IS FILLING UP IN TAIL LIGHTS. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT WE ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLACE YOUR TAIL LIGHTS FOR CONDENSATION ONLY. THEY ARE NOT A SEALED UNIT AND HAVE VENTS TO ALLOW CONDENSATION TO EVAPORATE WHEN BRAKE LIGHTS ARE USED. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS FEEL FREE TO EMAIL US BACK OR CALL US THANKS.
So I guess we can all stop complaining now since this is "normal" and only come back when our lights are little fish bowls...

Bummer, I think this might be a "self-help" issue for us. one guy in the condensation thread fashioned his own heavy duty gaskets and it may be the solution, not new tail housings. Was this at Livermore Subaru?

livermore subaru just replaced my taillights last week for condensation. mine were really minor but they still ordered new ones without needing to see the actual condensation in the lights

The thing is, they actually ordered and installed new ones on no question the first time. I guess I got somebody more uptight when I called/e-mailed the second time, who wanted pics etc.

I am gonna wait and see if the condensation gets really bad in the rainy weather... if it's just a little condensation I can deal with drying it out myself or doing a fat gasket mod.

Got my tail lights replaced. I had to wait 3 weeks for parts to come in. Im still observing if the new tail lights would have any condensation.
