I'm guessing he put down a deposit for the Five Axis Retro Series. Nothing new just Five Axis parts, and a two-toned color scheme.

not sure about this. I head a release series was at least two years out from the 2012 launch of the fr-s. A local dealer told me at the Pittsburgh International Raceway Dealer Introduction that was funded by Toyota, the reps explained that options and release series editions would be coming, but specifically in the 24 month range...
but talk is cheap. |

This, if it even happens. The fact Toyota doesn't build the car means anything can happen or can't happen.

And every time I see one of those yellow TCs it's either an ugly girl or someone who looks like they should be driving a brodozer.

The model code on the document matches an FRS/manual. Strange things are afoot at the Circle-K. |

Walk into any car dealer to place a deposit on any future car, any sales person will be gladly to take it and draw some paper. Ultimately, they don't built the car and there is no ETA and MSRP, etc.
I believe no one will turn me away (my money actually) if I go and order a BRZ STI now. |

Congratulations, your paying about 1k-3k more for nicer wheels and purely cosmetic stickers. You've been set up my friend.

That's his preference. There's a reason they make the 'release' series. Some people want to purchase the cars already done the way they want without having to deal with it themselves. Not saying I agree with this practice at all, but it's the OP's money and he's free to do with it as he pleases.
