I've got the kit all together and lights painted...just have to get the body painted and I still need the servo, transmitter, radio, and battery for it though.

Looking good! Did you enjoy putting the chassis together? I find it very relaxing. It's pretty simple once you get a feel for it.

Yes, it wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was really big into RC's with my dad when I was growing up, and I think my son will enjoy it once he gets a little bit bigger...I just wish that I still had my old RC stuff so I would have to go buy all new stuff for this one.

OK, I'm inspired to keep my R/C cars. I'll be searching for the FRS body for my Tamiya TA4R and HPI PRO 4 kits.

This makes me miss my old RC gear. I used to run a brushless Team Associated RC18T and then I got into 1/10th. I converted a nitro Traxxas Revo 3.3 chassis to electric, and later sold it for the factory E-Revo that came out about a year after I did my conversion.

I was heavy into offroad RC racing from 2000 to last year basically. In 05 I was ranked 20th in the US in Pro Truggy and was a Pro, sponsored racer. I built one the very first truggies (Buggy converted to "monster Truck'') and dominated the Monster Truck class for a year before Truggies became available from the manufacturers.
3 years ago I was the Cailfornia Champion racing 1/4 scale offroad and 2 years ago I placed 5th at the Nationals. That was a tight race, 1st through 5th finished within 25 seconds of each other, all on the same lap, in a 45 minute race with pit stops, fuel and tires (if you wanted to), it was awesome. I raced a bit of on-road as well, but drifting didn't exist then. Any new AWD chassis I think can be a good drifter, with the use of the drift wheels/tires and gyros. Gyros make it all WAY easier to drift for sure. Usually, the bodies are available separately, racers go through them fairly quickly. The FRS/BRZ body is probably available at your local hobby shop. I used to make a living painting the bodies for racers. |
