Was going to ask how easily this box is removed. Good point. Thanks!

I should also note having just looked at my trunk, I don't see any metal loops for attaching bungee cords (how I held the tC box in). I'll have to look into securing it, but I'll likely use some sort of bungee cord system. On the square box, I used small screws into the outside of the box as anchor points or pivot points for the bungees. It held secure, didn't move around, and didn't interfere with the movement of the woofer. This one has a metal grate on it, but I'll still likely do the same thing once I find some appropriate points to secure a bungee too. Otherwise it would be sitting loose in the back. Whenever I get it (waiting for tax return), I'll post up how I have it installed.
Edit: In the tC... ![]() Eventually, I moved it to the passenger's side with the speaker facing the driver's side. In that position, I wrapped the left bungee over the top screw and hooked it to the right one. Right bungee hooked onto to loop of first bungee. Also, pictured is my old, old JLW3v1 from 2001 which lasted me until about 2 years ago when the cone and ring started to separate. Was replaced with a 12W3v3 (same box). Got 9 years of hard use out of that first one, and that was with the old crappy foam materials. I will buy JL all day any day.

![]() Update on mine; got it installed this afternoon. I chose to have the amp mounted on the back (instead of under passenger's seat, where I usually mount them) because I want access to amp controls without having to remove the seat. Dinked around with a few of the settings on both the amp and the (factory) radio, and the thing sounds amazing. Very smooth clean bass. I would expect nothing less from JL. Extremely pleased with it. I have the factory radio on "Hear" profile, which tones down the bass output significantly (otherwise it's way too overpowering, even on Bass -5). I forgot what settings I had on the amp itself because I just left it on what I had it setup for my 12", but I may mess with the LPF to let it reach slightly higher frequencies since it's a 10". I do hear some significant rattle at certain frequencies, but I'm almost positive it's the third brake light (same issue in an old car). Will put some foam tape around it to mitigate the issue. I salvaged the amp from my old wrecked tC, but the new box/sub, wires, and install came out to $501.74 out the door after tax. Most significantly, the intrusiveness of the trunk is pretty minimal. You loose a little bit of depth, but keep all the front side stuff. Plus, with a quick detach of the audio wires, you can pull the whole thing out entirely. It may not be the prettiest thing in the world, but it sounds fantastic. I don't know why I would need a stealth box over this....

Nice. Not a badly-sized sub, but I definitely couldn't sacrifice the space. Too much hauling of winter gear, Costco shopping, etc.
Thanks for the pics! Still waiting for the JL, but I probably won't pick up until mid-summer anyways at this point. |

Yeah, if you need the length with the seats down, a side mounted option would be your best bet. It's a rarity for me, and I have no issues taking it out if I needed to.

![]() Look at what I found on the Google machine. Looks like the JL Stealth box. Any confirmation or dates yet?
