If it comes out in Japan earlier than oz, isn't there a loophole thru servs then?

Not necessarily. I believe that the local division has an allotted time to respond to the government (6 months?) on whether they plan to sell it locally within 18 months of the international launch. The R35 GTR only got through because Nissan didn't respond in time, however, they do have the ability to say they will be selling it here down the track, stopping any SEVS arrangements.

Remember that the SEVS process can take quite a few months, too. Need to supply evidence (and have it checked out) by the gov that it's a legitimate special interest car and has a wide fan base overseas.

And you'll tear up 3 times what you thought you saved when you try to sell it.

The loop whole is small and looks like it won't make it.

Yeah, I don't think Toyota AU would honour any warranty on imports either. Add 2k for shipping, more for compliance (which will need to be done) for another 2k, a few months, and you might get the car you were after for a saving of a couple of g's.

How much k's did it have when you sold it?

Drove a Colt Ralliart a few times in recent years. Shit it was fun. For the engine package it had a pretty eager stock turbo motor. You hit a certain rpm then it would take off quick. Bit of a bitch driving around stop go traffic in it. Also was afraid of tipping this car over around corners when i drove it too.

A question out there for WA folk. What Toyota dealerships in the Perth metro area are trustworthy from previous experiences and that you highly recommend?

cheers.
Yeah I have a deposit down at New Town Toyota with pricing and opt out clause if I purchase another car prior to the release of the 86. lol

As for a trusted dealership... I don't have one. This is the first Toyota I am looking at buying. I went to New Town because they are one of the biggest in Perth and will most likely get the most number of 86's in Perth plus more than likely the TRD options. Also my Aunty used to work there so I figured it can't be that bad right?!

I missed the opportunity to go see them again on my last break so I will go have a chat with the sales manager after New years when I am back home. Hopefully I will have a positive update but realisticly i'm not expecting any new news until after February

I hate this waiting game...

Don't think I like the idea of putting a deposit on a car, whenever I'm at a dealership I always have the feeling I'm about to be tricked into selling my soul....

You have a point there, considering its the biggest Toyota dealership in Perth you assume they have reasonably reliable customer relationship. As well the future possibility of TRD options available as you mentioned.

Toyota Australia have update their website for the 86
http://www.toyota.com.au/86?WT.ac=HPBSL5Toyota86
No more FT86II Concept page, it is all real now.

Good to hear from a dedicated Perth member, wondering who on this forum also from WA is serious in either the 86 or BRZ.

Becareful they dont ask for proof re: canceling the gt86 because you brought something else, i can see big loop holes here.

Hard to say without knowing the ins and outs or your agreement.
