I have not run the Evo X at MRLS with the NT01s because the car won't pass sound and the brakes overheat there even on street tires.

The 5 second drop at MRLS on NT01s was with my Boxster Spyder. The car is stock with the exception of adjustable lower control arms. Here's a video of the run:
Watching your car accelerate after T6 makes me jealous.

The AIM is a full standalone that polls at 10 hz, while the phone apps poll at 1 hz unless you get an external GPS.

More importantly, the data analysis software and predictive timing is key to REALLY utilizing a logger.

I use a Racepak G2X in my s2k, which I think is a better unit than the AIM (but also costs more than double...)
This.

<< Also uses an AIM Solo.

Oh and I'm one of the guys who ran R comps for years and moved back to street tires.

The cost and hassle was no longer worth it to me for an HPDE car.

Yes, the AIM SOLO is like $300-400 bucks BUT if you have the money I recommend getting the DL because of how it works with the OBD2 port... Lots more good information from that. I only have a regular SOLO because my racecar is OBD0 so the DL doesn't do me any good. Also, the AIM SOLO is a fraction of the cost of proper data acquisition system/devices (which are usually in the 4 digit price range) and the SOLO is very comparable, plus you don't need to setup a timing beacon at the track because it uses GPS.

Can you get good feedback and info from an iPhone app or Android app?.... Yes, yes you can but the internal G meters, GPS receivers and other items are not as robust so with something like the AIM you can really fine tune your feed back until you're improving your times by 10ths of a second or less.

Spend a few extra $$ and buy this: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...3FRecID%3D9542

This way you can use this from car to car.

Hey Texas, whatever route you go with "getting data" just consider doing that, you won't regret it. Heck, just having a lap timer goes a LONG way on helping you improve while you're on track because if you keep everything on a lap the same but say, change how you approach 1 corner you have some way of measuring the effectiveness of that change.

Also Texas... what do you want to do or try next? Do you want to try different tires, suspension, brakes, sway bars, alignment settings, tire pressures or driving technique? All of those will keep you busy and excited about being at the track learning something new for quite some time. It will also keep you spending money

Remember: Make 1 change and measure. 1 change a time.

I'm a little jealous of where you are in your learning development Texas, I found that point in my development the most fun and the most rewarding. Heck, in 2011 I tried 5 different R-comps during my race season and this year (2012) I tried 5 different brake pad compounds. Very frustrating and rewarding couple of years but when it comes to Suspension, Brakes and Tires I'm very confident going into next year knowing exactly what I want, how I want it and how it will work.

Agreed on getting the DL.

Similar to you, our racecar doesn't play well with the DL. It's a 96 Integra which I'm sure you know how completely worthless the OBD2 info is on that car so we also saved the money.

In hindsight I wish we would have gone with the DL simply because all of our DE cars are much newer and the DL would be very useful.

My DL isn't able to read off the OBDII on the BRZ. Did they release an update that I'm not aware of?

No DL so I haven't checked. Didn't realize the DL didn't support the FRS/BRZ yet

The DL needs to be configured specifically for the car. If you look under the ECU list, under Toyota there is a selection for GT86.

I'll get a screenshot of the setup screen that shows the GT86 protocol when I get home. AiM's website isnt working right now and I'm not sure if they added it to their website. I learned about it from Josh@AiM, who informed me that their lastest software update includes support for the GT86 ECU through the obd2 port.

I can't confirm that it works since I don't have my BRZ yet, but I can confirm that the protocol is an option

Very much appreciated! That'd be awesome if we could get full use of our DL this weekend.
