Sounds like severe detonation to me. Can't be 100% without hearing it in person. Could be a fuel injector that isn't fully closing and allowing fuel to leak into the cylinder on the exhaust stroke.

Does sound terminal for the engine if they don't get it fixed before the piston explodes (if it is for sure detonation).

Fuel getting to the intake and detonating. So, the intake valve must be staying open too long, no? I'm not a mechanic, just using logic. Somehow the fuel must be leaking in during the compression stroke.

Otherwise a fuel injector mis-timed or a leak in the valve maybe? There must be enough leak for hot gas to contact and ignite fuel vapour.

Aside from OBDII perhaps check compression to try and find offending cylinder and maybe check VVTi cam angles.

Could be one of the direct injection injectors leaking fuel in, or a valve problem where it opens early/late, or an ignition problem where it sparks at the wrong time. Could be a lot of things but hopefully they can diagnose it before any permanent damage happens.

OP please make sure to keep us up to date with the result in case this is a factory screw up or an actual failure and in case anyone has future similar issues.

Well if they don't want to service it under warranty- make sure you blow it up before your warranty expires... I wouldn't want to keep an engine thats gone through that much premature wear! Who knows how bad the heads look with all that detonation.

I've got some news. The director finaly gave me a phone call after my call to another dealer of the region and my idiot complaint to Toyota Canada. He's kind of piss of about me because i he's thinking i'm not fair with them ...

Anyway they told me that it's not the exaust and it's not about the air comming into the engine. They tested a lot of electronic part to control the air flow and the injection system. So the toyota ingineer would probalby order to change the engine and ship the old one back to them for further investigation. Finaly after more then 2 weeks they think it's the engine

And to blame my lack of patience that seems that before my numerous complaint the owner told them that maybe they should pay my month for compensation. So now they are pushing it to me that i was not fair and maybe they will not pay my month cause i've called another dealer and toyota canada ... So we will see what happen really soon.

Thks guy for your support. Hope the best for me.

Wow! I personally would wait until you have your new engine and see if they compensate you. If not phone/talk to "the owner" giving him the option to reconsider compensation. If he's not forthcoming, go straight to Toyota Canada.

Good luck.

Don't let them make you out to be the bad guy.
They totally blew you off and it took a formal complaint for them to take action.

Tell them to shut the fuck the up and fix the car.

Some news after excellent compression and leak test. They tested the injector and the #1 is faulty. So tha't was causing the bakcfire intake.

Finaly after 3 weeks they checked the injector

Sounds like complete BS to me. I'd ask him if you need to call Toyota again inform them of his (and by proxy, the dealership's) thinly veiled threats.
