You remove it to the frame rail. There is a plastic fitting there that gets capped off.

Installed, the inlet will look like this -

why did you guys decide to keep that last part? why not just remove the entire thing and plug the hole from the firewall?

We did it due to the location of where you would have to cap it off.

The firewall location is much harder to get to, so we chose to stop at the frame rail for ease of install.

Sure! It's just really hard to get to, since it's buried in there.

Cap it off from inside the car, Subaru even gives you a plug in your glove compartment.

Indeed, no need to order separate soundtube plug, if for quick tests there is one on glove compartment cigarette lighter (which i use for powering usb devices anyway).
From what i experienced though, that if i plug sound tube, even if with quietening engine noise it quietens road noise too .. i miss engine noise too much (with stock exhaust) at daily driven low rpms and even while performance numbers should be same .. it felt subjectively lifeless/slower . Hence i'll probably go for complete sound tube delete only when also installing catback exhaust or non stock catless header, any of which should increase noise to compensate for that

Hello,

I’m thinking of adding one of the Perrin intakes tubes to my 2016 FRS. I’m mostly trying to neatly eliminate the sound tube (save a little noise/weight), but also to help clean up the engine compartment a bit. I’m not really doing this with any hope of increasing power. As I understand, it’s miniscule at best without other modifications to the intake/exhaust.

My question to those who have used it is: Do you just install it and drive away or, is there anything special that needs to be done with the computer. Do I need to disconnect the negative battery cable or anything, or will the computer adjust by itself to the slight change?

There did not seem to be a consensus and this thread has not been active in a while.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

That's exactly right. Install, ensure everything is tight, and go.
