We're talking about watercooled Porsches here. In that case the Cayman chassis is more capable than the 911 will ever be; it just doesn't get the Michelin PSS and 3.8L engines since their "cheap" car can't be more expensive than their badge snob car.

Do I want a 911? Yes. Watercooled? Yes. Aircooled? Also yes. Would I rather have a Cayman S? Yes. Doesn't stop me from appreciating or wanting a 911, but the Cayman is just better engineering.

'better engineering' is a very vague and general qualification.

They left a lot on the table for the stock Cayman, but if I was going to be modifying a Porsche it will damn well be a proper 930.

Though the boosted flat 4 they are introducing could be interesting.

Damn, I must be the only person in the world that thinks the 2.7L engine is really neat.

by far one of the best looking cars coming out today. Too bad it's made by a car company that pushes vehicles I cannot afford haha

I'll say the new cayman R is something to be dealt with ...theres a woman who drives one at the track, her lines needs much improvement but her car is really pretty fast

Oh, I was talking about the newer 2.7 unless those have problems too. On paper the new one looks very good, about 105Nm/L at the hp peak which is excellent, and they have a host of pretty wild features like electric oil pump (with dry sump of course).

The old 2.7 is garbage compared to the new one. I really wonder how Porsche got away with selling those turds in such expensive cars. Other manufacturers have to actually you know, sorta try a little when they sell a car at 50k.

These new cars don't have IMS issues, because they don't have an IMS.
