maybe a competitor for Lotus as it has practically the same shape and style. I saw this at the LAAS and all i could say was that its very low to the ground and the exterior feels very light at your fingers. I felt like i'd put a dent in it if i pushed my pinkie hard enough. lol

They probably chose the Ford Duratec because it's already made in Mexico. If Ford had made a 2+2 version of the MX-5, I would have jumped ship awhile ago. But no, this is nowhere near the FT86 in any aspect. The only thing they have in common is a 2.0L displacement

You’d be forgiven for looking at the Mastretta logo and confusing it for an Italian car — what with the green, white and red adorning the Mexican flag, the Masretta badge and the Italian flag. It would seem though, that the Mastretta MXT high performance two-door sports car hailing from south of the border has more to share with Italy than the colors of its respective national banners.

You should be able to tell the Mexican flag because it has some stuff(the state crest?) in the middle instead of just 3 colors. But "excuse me princess" for expecting that people be held to an acceptable standard of Western cultural knowledge.

Definitely not. It'll be sold in the USA as a kit car to get around NHTSA & EPA regulations. You'll get a crate next to the car as they push it into your garage, and the you'll have to put the engine in yourself. ...just like a Caterham.

Comparing the Mastretta to any production car is rather irrelevant from an assembly, warranty, dealership network, titling, and insurance perspective.
