Hey Justin! Yes, that was me with DNAPoPo and Pure Import. GreddyFRS came after you guys left. It was nice seeing you. I just didn't get the chance to say hi when you guys were doing your photoshoot as I was assisting with the lights. How did your photos come out?

Subscribed to a good thread. Man between you and frs8six, keeping me entertained. There is nothing comparable to what you guys have out there.

Tell me more about the Toyota finishing touch, how is that working out?

Thanks! frs8six is a good friend of mine and he's got a very nice build too!

Toyota finishing is a clear polish/paint protector and is warrantied for 5 yrs. i cant remember the exact coverage though but i had already brought my car to the dealership for minor scratches and they fixed it. Washing my car is a breeze too! I only used water to wash it for six months. Then after that, i occasionally use meguiar's car wash soap and after drying, the shine is back. I dont even use carwax on my car. I hope this info will help you.

Love your build Boyce, and as a new Hot Lava owner I have to say you nailed many of what my perceived upgrades will be. I love the TE37SLs ... and really want to find a way to get 18x9.5 all around as I will be tracking as soon as possible with a widebody kit as soon as it makes sense.

The information I haven't been able to get spelled out exactly is pulling that off with the smallest amount of suspension mods while not putting silly stretched rubber on the wheels.

Like you - people have pointed at the seemingly perfect fit (stance-wise) of the 18x8.5 and 9.5 rear - and understeer always comes up as a mechanical certainty. Your build having so many strut braces and control arm work - and still having some understeer absolutely scares me away from the staggered setup knowing I wont have that many suspension mods for some time ...

So do you pull the trigger on 4.5k of end-state wheels and tires, then to lower the car enough with cheaper coilovers to get them on and be able to drive without rub until you can start making suspension mods?

Dilemma indeed!

Sorry, i've been slacking on my build thread but I'll try to update this as soon as I can.

Thanks for liking my build. Square set up with 18x9.5 wheels all around is a perfect setup for track use and they don’t rub. That is what I have planned on my next set of wheels. I still can’t pull the trigger on that as I haven’t really decided which wheels I want.

As for my understeer, I had my car set to have understeer when I had it aligned. Reason is I am still learning to drive my car and controlling an understeer is easier than an oversteer.

Hmmmm, if you were to ask my opinion, I would put my money on the wheels and tires that I really want. That way, I wouldn’t have an excuse to make an upgrade. And for the coilovers, get something manufactured by a reputable company who already has a proven track record on the products that they make. Do your research and don’t be afraid to ask. Then, work on your suspension mods.

To summarize, work your build from the ground up. Do your cosmetic last. Make your mod fun and do it one step at a time. Good luck!
