ok, I am actually tempted to do this mod.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...control+bypass

I am getting sick of turning off all the nannies everytime i get in the car. Wet or dry.

I dont know, I just hate nannies. How did people use to drive without these nannies. Quite easily. I guess more skill is involved.

like others have said... many of the buyers of this car are young and if you didnt want a 10+ year old import with sky high premiums or a falcon/commodore you havent had the opportunity to own a RWD car.

I myself am coming from an 06 Liberty which stuck to the road like it had glue on the tyres (Even in the wet.) for me personally this car is extremely sketchy in the wet.

NB (doesnt mean i dont enjoy it)

Yeah it is a bit sketchy, but release the gas and quite easily recoverable.

Try driving the 1st gen MR2 spyder in the wet (the one that didnt have TC) Snap ya neck. push it too far and its too late. Bummer it never came out in a manual in AUS or came out with celica motor. TOYOTA AUS fail.

Still a great go kart feel to drive.

Even more fail was 2nd gen Spyder, You couldnt turn off TC. Massive fail.

Interesting. Even in the wet I feel like i have to be 'trying' to get the car to go sideways. Similarly when I was driving the WRX it was easier to get sideways under power than I expected. I guess each car is different and so is each driver.

Yeah, at an abstract level, it's related to the western world's addiction to the nanny state promoting ineptitude at every level. People think a licence means they have driving skill. This is patently untrue and the manufacturer's know it (as does anyone that's seen, and laughed heartedly, at Joe Average drive on a proper simulator).

The long-term "answer" from the nanny state will be self-driving vehicles. So, perhaps be thankful for being allowed to drive, whilst that lasts.

Another upside, for now, is that we'll likely appreciate it when it's time to pay future insurance bills, where such 'helping hands' will help diminish the amount premiums go up. Nonetheless, I'm still bracing and budgeting for bill-shock next year.

Ps. Really sorry to hear about your own recent wet weather bad luck.

I also think this is where things are heading and it scares me.

Yep, self driving cars will happen. By that time we will all be driving corolla's, as there will be no need to have a sports car.

Thanks man. Yeah, well, long story sort. The roads just dried up. I had just washed the car, Pressure hose the guards and wheels. Going to put some petrol and air dry the car.

Pulled out of my street, taxi had his blinker on, so I had time to turn right onto the main road, taxi decided to go straight instead and i was stuck in the middle of the road with cars coming to both directions, so gave it a bit of gas and a little sharp turn to not take both lanes (since there is a new concrete island on the corner) and the car snapped out sideways 1/2 a metre with all nannies ON! (tyres were soaking wet) Then the cop saw me. Pulled me over told me off and wouldn't let me explain what happened.
Then realised my wallet was in the garage. So i got told I will see 2 fines in the mail for both. Nothing intentional, nor any SUSTAINED loss of traction (due to nannies), coming out of my own street on a early sat morning.

Great, with 3 weeks to go on my 1 year 1 point good behaviour license. So really hoping fines don't come through. Usually when you are told you will get fines in the mail, most times they don't come through.

I reckon he was lenient on you & just handed you a warning instead otherwise he would've given you the fines right there & then ! I hope you're good, it's not like you were being a midnight hoon or anything !

yeah usually a verbal warning... Or scare you with the, you will get them in the mail and walk away. So im hoping.

SHE was not very kind to me at all.

Paddy wagon, for some fines can not give you the fine, e.g speeding, as they can not prove/ have the knowledge to tell how fast you were going. So for some cases they will discuss it with their highway officer/head sargent and decide whether or not to send the fine. They have 4 weeks to process it/ or drop it before they get kicked in their rear end.

If its highway patrol then a fine on the spot.

I'm surprised he didn't issue anything on the spot, but I think you are still screwed sorry man.

Maybe it's xenophobic but it seems most Americans are terrible drivers.

When I went into a similar thread in the general forum commenting at this being nearly the perfect RWD car for a driver to learn car control on, they all went off at me and called me dangerous for disabling TC. "Why would you EVER disable it on ANY car".

They've obviously never "driven" or learned how the car reacts without it on. IMHO traction control off and no nannies is the best way to fully enjoy this car.
