I installed the Injen cold air intake and removed the sound resonator. It makes a lot more noise inside than before when you "get on it" and gets about 2MPG additional avg gas mileage than before. I just don't know what the dealer will say since the manual says "only approved scion parts" when modifying.

I like the sound tube.
Gives me more engine sounds inside the car (which is what I care about), without making it louder outside the car and annoying the neighbors (who probably wouldn't be impressed after a while).
I like the sound of it, I don't need anyone else to like the sound of it.
And since I'm inside the car when I'm driving it, how it sounds outside the car doesn't concern me too much.
Perfect for me

Really hate the very idea of this trend.
This car uses acousticly tuned intake to achieve specified performance, so when decide to remove sound tube you should only plug small rubber hose and leave the rest of it intact. If you remove the whole resonator, you change acoustical prolerties of intake, which will likely result in more uneven torque numbers.

Your RX7 has a v8 transplant? thats dope Does it affect weight distribution much?

Once you have a aftermarket exaust you cant hear it and i imagine with a aftermarket intake it might not be nessasary

i LIKE THE GROWL, and since not an option, leaving it on. There are all kinds of things that take up space, it is under the hood so who cares, until I find a twin screw supercharger.

My neighbor has a V12 audi. I can hear him coming and going. It gets really old. So I want to stick with a quiet exhaust, and not be another a-hole who enjoys people knowing when he is around. As for the FR-S, I kind of like the rasp. I like it much better than the Honda VTec sound I used to have.

Do you mean R8 V10? The only 12cyl Audi is a W12 in the A8, and there's nothing old about hearing either the 5.2L 525bhp V10 OR the 6.3L 493bhp W12!!!

I'm with you there. If I enjoy the sound, the sound should be where I am.

If my neighbors knock on my door and say,
"excuse me Nate, your car is cool, but we want it to be louder, could you please ?"
.... and then if they pay me money to replace my stock exhaust with a louder one....then I would consider it.

However, I don't see either of those two things happening EVER, haha.
I do live in a suburban neighborhood though.
If I lived out in the countryside and the sound was bouncing off of the hills and trees in the distance, and wasn't that loud, maybe I wouldn't mind it.

Even if my neighbor had a V12 Ferrari, I think I would enjoy it at first, and probably get pretty tired of it after a while if he was leaving early in the morning, late at night, or anytime where I was looking forward to some peace and quiet.

Right, its an A8 W12. It sounds like a whining old Hoover, or a Whirlpool going into spin cycle.

Looks mainly. I just took mine off with a few things bought from Lowe's and it noticeably reduces noise in the cabin. The items were a 1 1/4 in PVC Cap and a 3/4in plug for the intake side and the firewall side.
