Maybe they tweak the engine a bit.
Subaru did mention that there was no plan for turbo in this car, that doesn't mean they will not put a turbo in later down the road. I could be wrong though.

They said no turbo in the design for the FB series. But this isn't the FB series, now is it? There's still hope for some of these guys.

And the WRX/STI is likely getting its own non-FB motor as well.

They said no turbo at launch. So the future is open.

A fellow member here posted a video that Subaru is talking about up coming model. Subaru mentioned that WRX/STI model will have Turbo charged FB and and STI will have more than 300hp. I don't think Subaru is lying at the press release. :\

I concur with this statement. But TBH it can be FA, FB, FC, FD doesn't matter what they stamp on it. The STI BRZ will be turbo, Subaru will always stay true to the enthusiast in the STI line.

Source?

And since when did enthusiasts require turbos? I don't want a turbo in this car so I guess I'm not an enthusiast.

Not that non turbo people are not enthusiasts, but STI fans are turbo people.

Source? Oh wait...

heh...

Seriously though, with how butt-hurt Subaru has been acting with its 'We did it all!' press releases, I wouldn't be surprised if even if they use a turbo FA20, they would re-name it back to an FB20.

The bore and stroke will show how much the WRX/STI motors relate to the existing FB motors. I'm still curious about the 72mm stroke on existing bores idea that we were floating around long before we had the 86mm X 86mm confirmation.

Also some of Moto-P's old posts seem to indicate that the cars are not as conceptually attached to each other as they will appear on release. It could be a time/money-constraint thing.
