Be harder to figure out how to (efficiently) place that shit into the engine bay and keep the factory peripherals. That bay is crammed!

In any case, as with most newer cars, I expect within short time and order there will be a plethora of FI kits and whatnot available from reputable tuners to sate any power mongers thirst. Me? I'm waiting to see if Toda does their N/A magic with this engine.

FWIW, if I had to choose between being whined (turbo) at all day, or screamed (N/A), I'll take screamed.

It's Superchargers that whine. Turbo's whistle...

I will add that an N/A build, perhaps from Cosworth, on this would probably be tits... Would be to loud though for DD. A turbo quiets the exhaust note and still maintains power.

I'm thinking GT30R with Open Wastegates on this Boxer would be pretty Yummy...Fueling will need to be on point.

a 57mm turbo for 300whp?
Why do you think this is funny? I like room for more power in case I get bored. Lets keep in mind that if we keep the high compression, we need a big enough turbo to make that 300whp at a low psi.

Cause you don't need a 57mm turbo to make 300whp. Because of the insanely high compression, you also would not need to run a lot of boost. I guess we'll see what is what soon enough though.

Like I said haha i know a 57mm is beyond 300whp lol, there are many factors though for me. I still want to retain good mpg when cruising =]

3. Your opinion is noted.

1. To me it's nothing, I've built a port injected, open deck motor with 11.5:1 static c/r and 11psi PSI on a supercharger, that was EASY to tune. With DI it'll be easier. I don't need to explain why I think a certain component can't handle it. I'm not trying to make you a believer.

2. Wasn't that I cared, but it was for the 2 member who mentioned Cobb, and I know they wont touch it unless it's factory boosted. I don't have hopes and dreams, I know what is coming, everything I've said in the beginning of the year has been true. My only gripe was that the base Subaru wasn't low output factory turbo to the high output in the STI variant because of the agreement.

3. It's a fact, the R56S MINI outperforms a Civic Si in almost every category. That's a 1.6L small twin-scroll turbo vs a high output K20xx(which you could say is like the FA20). Then add a $795 mod(ALTA/COBBAP) and it will demolish it in all categories, with that mod it also becomes a Lotus hunter, given they are both on the same tire.

I'll throw a tiny bit of support to the factory turbo guys.

From what I remember, officially all they've said is that it won't launch with a turbo.

Secondly, there was official talk about 'this motor was never intended to be turbo'd', but that was about the FB20, when everyone assumed this car would get a modded FB20. It's not.

So: A) they could turbo the FA20 at a later date (Yamaha has turbo car experience with the 3SGTE and 1JZGTE).

B) they could still put in a different turbo motor at a later date.

But I haven't been keeping up with the new WRX/STI motor rumour mill.

It won't happen until it's done! ;p

Subaru hasn't even made a turbo engine on the new design yet. That's at least 2013/2014 for the new WRX.

Official from a FHI engineer. The FB was not designed to accommodate future turbos.
