I've always wanted a sports/muscle car, just never was able to manage it until now. So my rides were as follows in order:

90 Ford Escort
91 Ford Explorer
92 Pontiac Grand Am
2002 Chevy Caviler
2005 Toyota Tundra
2013 Toyota GT86 (..incorrectly badged as a Scion FR-S..x.x)

Really, really loved the Explorer, as it was a 5-speed manual, 2 door sport version (the type that was easy to roll over). It was a blast to drive both on and off the road. And the Tundra is still in my driveway, just doesnt get much love now that I have my hachi roku.

< is a fan of Japanese cars in general

first car was a white 87 RX-7. Was non-turbo, manual everything (manual steering, no sunroof!)
very fun to drive.

after that I got
some rustbucket S13,
another really nice 91 FC,
an 87 FC Turbo,
97 Civic hatchback,
2011 Honda CRZ

and now the BRZ.

its gorgeous though and i love most of the reviews on it
I honestly believe that the people that say the GT-R doesn't have a soul simply haven't driven one. It is a car that rewards any driver but, if you make a mistake at the speeds it can get you to in under 10 seconds you are in trouble. Complaining about the technology in a GT-R being so good is like complaining about the improvement in all technologies. It drives me absolutely bonkers! I mean why don't we carry around that old wireless cell phone that weighed 50lbs, it had so much soul, lol… As technology increases so to will performance and comfort and reliability… Whats wrong with that. I mean whats wrong with a "bone stock" car that can run mid 10 second 1/4 mile passes in true stock form… I love every breath taking second in my GT-R. It has plenty of soul for me. For those people that say it doesn't but haven't even been in one I highly encourage them to at least drive or ride in one before they say it again…

Thank you for the great question!

The only reason I got the CRZ is because it was free...

I won it at an auto show.

I am aiming for a GTR next. I got to sit in the prototype in Sapporo (Japan) back in...2006 or 2007 I think, in a showroom. They even let me start it up and sit in it for a few minutes. Its been a (reachable) dream to own one ever since.

If you get a chance to own one, do it! Plus these things hold their value… So you really will not lose a lot of money either… Win/Win

Definitely. Wife likes it too, so its actually a Win/Win/Win for me. She keeps looking at new and used ones, so I'm sure I will get one eventually. Though it will likely be in 5 years or so because I just bought the FRS.

I almost got a 2002 Z06 before getting the BRZ (in regards to the convo earlier in the thread.) I went with the BRZ because I needed a daily driver, and I can push the BRZ to 9/10 more often, where the Z06 would really only get to stretch its legs on the track.

As far as my automotive history goes, I've been a car guy for a while, but my car history didn't really contribute to the BRZ desire. I was just never able to afford a car I truly loved. Everything was just a method of transportation that I could afford, while in my mind I was waiting for the day I could afford something I actually wanted. Before the BRZ, I owned:

2002 Saturn SC2
2004 Chevy Cavalier LS Sport Coupe
2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser
2002 BMW 325i (this was actually fun to drive)
2013 BRZ

Sounds like you have an AWESOME and understanding Wife! She is a keeper. My wife has been by my side for over 13 years… She supports my car addiction as well just as long as I continue to increase our quality of life to coincide along with the cost of the cars, lol… :happy0180:

Mine is getting used to supporting my car addiction (she didnt know i had one until we saw the FR-S), and she is the one that increases our quality of life. I just maintain what we have and put a little into savings/retirement. Being in the military, thats about all I can do. And you are right, she is definitely a keeper. I am glad to have her.

I need to do something with the brakes and suspension setup at least.
I have been the same exact way. I'm running a big turbo KAT setup and its honestly hard to stay in the game after driving the BRZ. I will say one thing I like about the two is that the 240 can curb my need for power and the BRZ is so refined in every other aspect the 240 is lacking.

The one thing keeping me in the 240 game is the low cost to mod relative to other aftermarket parts for other cars.

My first love is the lotus elise. Never owned one but I did ride in one on a track day. I was seriously ready to buy one but really wanted a good practical car as a dd. BRZ was that car and reliability of the subaru brand tagged along.
