26.8mpg avg

I am currently avg 26.8MPG due to hills on my routes.

But my habit has changed. I feel more confident when passing slower peeps on the freeway. I make it a point to drive at or slower than the speed limit on populated streets to be seen in my fantastic ride. Especially when cruising home on Pacific Coast Highway during sunset. I get a lot of stares and twisted necks. Even more when I put my Raven FRS through the touchless car wash before heading home.

i drive the same. i came out of a 95 E36 M3 which was straight mechanical diff and trans. lol no tcs no vsc so i just turn all that nonsense off and drive like i normal would my foot is my tcs. gotta know how to use the throttle with the FR layout. a lot have said i like to leave it on to get used ot how it drives.. well itll be a llloottt different when you turn it off and start trying to drive the way you normally would if spirited drives are your thing.

i say learn the car with the crap off once you get good at that and want to leave it on youl know exactly how the car is going to handle. :-) thats just me though

i live on the touge.

Can't say I've noticed a change in my driving habits. I actually might drive the FR-S harder than I have cars before it, though I was pretty tough on my Mazda. The only difference is the FR-S seems thirsty for the abuse, the 626 kind of groaned about it. It worked well enough, but it was a pretty loud car and hit the higher RPM's on any hill.

That being said, the last two fill ups for my FR-S averaged 26-27 MPG. The computer is saying it's averaging 27.

Not sure how this is bad? I don't abuse the car by dumping the clutch, constantly bouncing the red line limiter. I am how ever enjoying the car much more as it begs to be revved.

Thats not bad. My gauge always reads about 1.1.5 higher then my calculated mileage.

Running on the highway in 4th gear? I would think its really taxing on everything to stay at those high rpms all the time. I drop to 6th if I'm on the highway. If i need to pass, I just downshift and go. However, drive how you like, it is your car. And to add to the thread, I know my driving habits have changed too. I drive it harder than I have driven my other vehicles, especially after I found out I can still manage 28 mpg while doing it.

Each mile you travel at freeway speeds in 4th gear is causing much more wear on your engine components than mine will endure when I travel a mile in 6th gear. Wear in itself is not necessarily bad. However when you willingly cause excessive wear I consider that abuse.

Haha! Every now and then I feel the desire to put it into VSC Sport and sport shifting. I'll see how that changes with winter approaching.

It'll change.....

You'll just go with TC off and goof off until you're blue in the face in a parking lot
