Any series that has multiple cars on track to qualify at the same time will have this, F1 has had it for over a decade, probably more, I seem to remember them doing it when I started watching in '06-'07, not well versed in their historic formats. The exception is metering the cars out so they don't come near each other. I don't see a problem with it, I've got more of a problem with the shit show of the drivers all trying to be the last one out and tripping over each other, which metering cars out of the pit wouldn't help with F1 given how slow they do some of their outlaps to run out the clock unless they set minimum times and restrict passing.

It's also clear Max didn't need it for pole given how quick his last lap was until sector 3.

Kind off a bad moment for Mercedes to be sand-bagging at this stage of the championship, if they are. I bet Norris takes Hamilton in the first 5 laps. He's fast, on softs, has a Merc engine, and Perez is right behind him also on softs. Lewis is in a pretty bad position early on in terms of risk.

I also think Max is going to pit 1 more time than Hamilton this race, unless there is a safety car at an opportune time.

Given that Pirelli is going to use the softest compounds this race, and the track has some pretty abrasive kerbs, I wouldn’t be surprised if most teams run a two stop strategy

I think the race really hinges on Perez. RBR needed to go to extremely low downforce to be competitive in qualy, so the increased tire wear puts them at a pretty big disadvantage over an entire race.

Was quite windy east of you too, Power flickered most of last night, I found my Patio Table top on the grass this morning quite heavy and lucky it did not shatter.

Hope your power gets back before you have time to freeze. (I spent 14 days back in ’97 with no electricity in the middle of winter and was traumatizing)

Nikita will miss the race today tks to C-19 so that makes one safety car left to call out.
