Ignorant.

And, even if there was a connection or look-alike-ness, let's not forget also (if it hasn't been mentioned already), that the swastika symbol didn't have anything to do with the horrors of WWII until the Nazi's decided to adopt it as their symbol.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

"The swastika (Sanskrit: स्वस्तिक) is an equilateral cross with four arms bent at 90 degrees.
The earliest archaeological evidence of swastika-shaped ornaments dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization of present day Pakistan/Ancient India as well as Classical Antiquity. Swastikas have also been used in various other ancient civilizations around the world. It remains widely used in Indian religions, specifically in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, primarily as a tantric symbol to evoke shakti or the sacred symbol of auspiciousness. The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix. The swastika literally means "to be good". Or another translation can be made: "swa" is "higher self", "asti" meaning "being", and "ka" as a suffix, so the translation can be interpreted as "being with higher self".

No matter the original meaning, there are SEVERAL well-respected academic authorities that have agreed that the actions by the Nazi party were so horrible on a global scale that it did effectively change the meaning of the Swastika. I have also heard from personal friends that are very spiritual Hindus said that the Swastika has been largely abandoned thanks to the stigma.

I would have never confused the 86 emblem with a swastika if not for this thread...

Doesn't look like a swastika to me at all but certainly, at first glance, looks like an SS symbol.

Maybe that is what the OP meant.

Even with this thread I still don't think of it as a swastika. I do still think of it as B.S.

I noticed it pretty early on if you stretch for it a bit. If anything, it sort of looks like one of those modified versions adopted by some of the nutty White Power groups where they fit the outer arms into a circle.

But it looks more like an "86" than anything else so it doesn't bother me. And let's be honest - how long does someone have to look at it as I pass by?
