I have the Chirp and am using Chevron premium. I only here mine at stop lights assuming that my system is to loud and overpowers it.

Who is the Black FRS I always see in Pearl Kai Shopping Center. I am the Hot Lava Orange with the Black rims and tint! I would like to meet more FRS owners.

I never had the crickets, bought my car october 1st with almost 1000 KMs and I'm almost at 7000. If anything, the injectors clicking overpowers any other noise the car makes.

Notes: I never used gas with ethanol and it's been relatively cold since I ever bought the car.

I still dont know why you guys are getting the chirp if your car was made after the TSB, especially the ones that have been using the same gas as me. As far as a warranty goes, if they deny the claim adn you dont want to pay for the new pump, fight it. Nobody here has ANY type of mod that will eat a pump, which is where the problem (according to the damn TSB) is. Any vehicle made AFTER the TSB should have the fix already incorporated into it.

If the guys on the Kaneohe side are being shitheads and not doing their job, take it up to the other one. I am willing to bet that they would work with you. If not you can always take it higher .

Two suggestions for a fix, Run your tank till the light comes on, refill with Non ethanol....somebody found some on island....if it goes away, awesome! Might be a tad out of the way for some people i know .

Try the twostroke oil. I have a small bottle I bought as a just in case. I can bring it out to the next meet nad hand it off to whoever needs it....its pretty cheap, sohuld last you a while.

I just had great success this fill up by adding Chevron fuel injector cleaner additive before I filled up with cheapo Costco gas. My next fill up will be with another round of Costco gas to flush the Chevron additive out. If the chirping comes back, I am going to try non-ethanol gas and see what happens; if no chirping, sticking with cheapo gas until I get the chirping again. =)

this pertains to my interests :P
but really do let me(us?) know how it turns out. I had heard of others having good luck with shell v-power (still with ethanol...) so after burning out this full tank of chevron im gonna do a full fill up with shell and see if theres a difference. not really expecting anything, but its worth a shot.

Don't forget if you need to find a non-ethanol station near you [we have a fair amount] to give it a try, there's a really handy app for both android and iphones called Pure Gas that'll find the nearest ones.

Waipio Tesoro and Pearl City 76 have non ethanol gas. I think Waipio Tesoro just switched over.

Day three of using the Chevron fuel cleaner, and unfortunately the chirping has continued. They only seem to start up when the car is warmed up to normal operating temperature.

Could this issue be due to temperature effects on the fuel, and thereby somehow making the pump work harder (chirp)?

I think the next logical step besides fueling up with non-ethanol fuel is to isolate the fuel-pump with a heating blanket or a heat gun, cold start, and then see if chirping occur.

Any ideas before we all sheepishly go along with the TSB?

Tesoro may not have the extra fuel detergents to be "top tier" branded fuel, but I'll try it for engineering sake.

I wish we had a place on the island with 93-94 octane so that we could test those as well since the chirping could also be related to running anything under the "high" end octane range since the car is recommended to use 93 and best we can get is 91-92.

Dropping to 92 will give no issues. The ecu can handle it :P.

There used to be a 76 station that sold race gas on King st and the library (McCully or some shit) Octance boosters are bullshit, when they say 'raises by 5 points!' they really mean .5. Honest waste of money, shoulda just got that race gas!

Try the two stroke trick....its not going to hurt your engine in small amounts. Something like 45 or 50:1 will be ok.....

Its not the octane of the fuel, but the fact that we dont have the additives that Japan does. Look on the main forums, I bet even people with 93 have the problem.

Mines come intermittent. I was the first one in Maui that had the problem and complaint. They replace the high pressure fuel pump but it came back. And they said they don't have an updated parts yet.

You'll know, it's pretty loud. Like at auto-x waiting in line for the start, person working the lineup was about to tell the car at the line their engine was squeaking, but it was actually me about two car lengths back!
