Tar and feather the tech!!! Well, that's kind of inhumane...

Just put feathers on him! Feathers everywhere!!!

Lol, jk, jk. I would hit up Scion corporate. They have helped people out with dealer issues when dealers have been actin a fool.

EDIT: Contact the number that Moto-San posted!!!^^^^^

Are you kidding me? Exposure will help him tremendously. Haven't you seen(heard actually) the recent one with the guy and his Camaro? He got all his money back after posting his story and the audio recording. Before that, they told him to pound sand.

Here is the story, make note of the 2 updates at the bottom:
http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoram...152707580.html

Scumbag dealer even threatened to sue him, which is even more reason to make it public. They couldn't possibly win with so much attention on it, and the fact that it was all true, hence update #2.

It works like this: once exposed, they know the world is watching to see what their response is. Aha!

in other words, your chances of getting anything worthwhile is slim to none. post the video and allow the community to exact revenge
What you mean you can't get anything...
The manufacturer asks you to drive it nicely in the break-in period and the place that is suppose to fix your car goes ahead and tests the limits? The guy should be able to sell his car to those guys and get a brand new one or get a huge some of money.

7 miles isn't that much considering he's diagnosing the car to see if he can replicate the problem. maybe he was milking it a bit, but if he acted professionally (no racing, no laughing, no hard launches) throughout the drive then I don't see you having much of a case.

aha, and if the tech guy was drifting your car within 30 degrees angle limit and not more , then it's as how it prescribed in the service bulletin haha

does your dashcam record yaw-g-sensor angle digits embeeded in the video? that would be just great to show the man done wrong

Most young technicians are going to be guilty of ragging out customer's cars, especially if they don't know they are getting spied on. Go complain and teach this guy a hard lesson.

Not sure about going viral but scion needs to know what kind of service dealers are giving. Not easy to go through that but it might be worth it. Good luck regardless of your decision .
I agree with the above -- you should at least get a free extended warranty for your own peace of mind. If non-covered wear items get worn earlier than expected (clutch, syncros, brakes, etc.), I'd think you have a case that the dealer should be on the hook for those.

To me, that's a reasonable baseline expectation after discovering video evidence that a tech has beat on your car for a number of miles.

ugh....crap like this. Can feel the hair on my head raising up.

This is completely typical of so many service techs at dealerships, they think nothing of the customer. Some do, and they're fantastic for their professional attitude and respect, I just wish there were more.

This is why I fear taking my car to a dealership for a TSB. Now if I were allowed to watch and be responsible for any of the driving necessary I'd be less skeptical.

Thanks for that info Moto, I hope this guy gets this completely resolved and is nothing short of satisfied.

But it's also things like that, that cause dealerships and companies to be willing to do nearly anything to make amends without it turning into that.

Settling without having to deal with the PR and dealing with it internally is the best one could hope for, but companies aren't exactly known for being straightforward like that once they've covered their ass. So I can certainly see where you're coming from.

However in this case, if option 1 doesn't work they at least have option 2 as you've mentioned.

I forgot to mention that my car is a lease and all the maintenance and general upkeep of my car is going to be handled by the dealership, so I don't have much choice in the matter. I will say this though, all this stuff about dealerships abusing cars makes me consider turning this car back in to them at the end of the lease. As much as I'm tempted to keep the car out of the lease, if they're going to abuse it when I take it to them, they can keep it and deal with whatever they broke.

You guys are all forgetting something huge. You need to know what the video recording laws are in your state.

Just because you captured this, doesn't mean he consented to being on video. Talk to a lawyer to understand what the actual law is in your state.

But is HE actually in the video? Silly argument I know. But hey, the video just shows a car going down the road and being driven hard. His face isn't plastered all over the screen.

Granted there have been the unfortunate cases where it being your property has no bearing on such laws, I think I recall some suit where a man who trespassed won some case regarding his being recorded as he had no knowledge of it being done.

Seems as though it would be common sense that if you choose to put yourself in someone else's domain as it were, that you forfeit such rights. Different discussion for a different time though. I'm of the opinion that a camera in a car is no different than a lock on a door, it's there to keep an honest person honest. People have no reason to worry if they're not doing something disrespectful, and if they end up being caught in the act; too bad.

Ok so sorry if this has been asked in the previous pages but where was the dash cam located? How did the person not see the camera in the car? Is it that small not see?I guess the best way to show you have the person and the red line acceraltions they are doing would be to have it mounted in the rear to see everything in front of it.
