That's what I understood the spirit of your post to be <3
And I agree with you. Many of the young people on here seem to be coming from their - typical american - parents' cars and get taken by surprise by a car that is so different.

This plus the cars you learned on is your answer right there. What seems natural and second nature for you is new and unknown for a good number of twins owners. When the back comes out even that little bit, they don't know how to correct it. When I read such posts I find myself thinking these cars should come with a voucher for a car control clinic to help RWD newcomers.

Good discussion going here, I also came from a vette to the fuel efficient FR-S. One major difference was my vette would slide through a corner and break out under heavy accleration. The FR-S appears more composed IMO. I also thought what ThePoet thought, hey this cars seems almost to easy to screw up in. So I decided to take a turn I've taken a bunch of times a bit faster, without my assists, and in the rain. Well i'll be damned but that rear slid right out on me. For the record slid the same corner in the vette no problem. Getting familiar with your car might be the key but i have to think better tires would help.

Ohhhh.... I see what you did there
It's true. I know a good many people in my own town that should not even be allowed to dress themselves, much less have a license and operate a 3000+ pound piece of machinery. It's just sad, really.

I guess I hadn't considered it that way... Looking at what I have experience in, rather than how much experience I have overall.
Also, as a side note, while on the subject of the general population of America not knowing how to drive- Everyone should know how to drive a stick shift. It's ridiculous the number of people here who have no idea. Although it makes a good excuse for telling people no, who want to drive my car

Its 100% being familiar and not pushing it past your own limits. Let my buddy drive it w assists off (he's coming out of a 328is coupe) and he spun my car gunning it out of a u turn.... i find this car remarkably easy and predictable to slide. Its setup to let go at low speeds. Just gotta feel it out. I'd post my video of how I learned but probably get drilled for "abuse" and not knowing anything about cars which is laughable. I'm no expert, but I have never wrecked a car and I learn before I go beyond my limits. And the cars.... this car is set up to slide at low speed, so at high speed hell yeah its a bit light and touchy but still predictable. Went sideways accidentally at a tad over 80. Wasn't trying to but I knew when it was coming and it was predictable and easily continued and subsequently corrected.

Don't know if this means anything to anyone. But to prevent someone saying crap about experience... Cars daily driven mkiii supra (5mt), f150 (dirt road "drifter" and probably what I most learned handling dynamics in honestly. Was comfy going sideways at 50mph) saturn sl4, learned fwd dynamics on snow and dirt, Nissan pathfinder/hard body, 08 eclipse gt, 94 miata m, 98 tiburon turbo now frs. So yeah, I've driven a few different cars, but I'm 20, and the only important factor with any of these is start slow as everyone has stated... if you're coming from fwd, welcome to cars that turn.

As mentioned above, a lot of people came from FWD imports, so the driving dynamics of RWD are completely foreign to them.

I just got my frs yesterday... It rained this morning.... I turned the traction control off... I turned one corner and snapped into second and about wet myself.... This car w/o traction control on is more tail happy then my 88 Porsche 944 with bald tires.... Never again will I turn the t/c off unless I'm at an event..... Understand that I'm no noob at sideways malarkey I had my 944 sideways at 100+ multiple times and used to drift it around almost every corner but this car while easier to control seems more nervous when the back comes out on the street

The back end does come out pretty quickly on the FRS - I mean, not often, but when it does give you a little warning of loosing traction, the transition to major loss of traction is pretty quick.

There's a U-turn I do at a stop light (wait for green arrow) often. Even with nannies on, the back end will get a little loose. Not much, but a little. In sport mode, it really comes around on you. Easy to control, but once it starts moving you gotta react fast. My Miata gives a little more feedback and once loose, doesnt come around as quickly.
