I believe the original allocation is done on how many cars dealers sell overall, not balanced geographically. So it does not surprise me that the Norheast has more cars than customers. That is historically one the best selling areas for Subarus. But a rear drive sports cars that has to be a daily driver (for most buyers) is not as attractive in such cold weather areas. The more snow that a region gets, the less likely this car will be a hot commodity. (No pun intended).
For me that is too far, even to save 1000.00 off the sticker. Once you add in airline costs for a flight less than several days or a week in advance, then gas cost, and overnight stay (or stays), it is not such a good deal. But it depends on where you live and what number of airline options you have access to Personally, I am happy to have paid sticker and have the car home in an hour or two. Time is also money for most working people. But for someone who cannot find any regional dealer to sell at MSRP or very close, then heading to New England (or New York or even Pennsylvania) could well be worth it to be able to own this car and not wait five to seven months. They tried to do the markup deal with me too but it wasn't too difficult to get them to throw that out. I ended up getting it for MSRP. A bit higher than I hoped, but meh.

Low Pricing is Not Impossible
Ordered my GBS Limited, Auto, W/ 1A for $28.3k, MSRP was $29.8k. Some smaller dealership with left over allocations will normally deal with you. They may get a bump in allocations next year if they can sell their limit this year. Seems like the East (Except New England) and West coastal areas have the highest "market" adjustments. From what I can tell Central Time Zone states and New England is where you'll get the Most for your money.

I'm in SoCal. I reserved my red Limited AT from a Co dealer on 11/5, car arrived on 11/20 at the dealer, TG holidays, all paperwork done and car picked up on 11/24 and the truck delivered to my house on 11/27. Sticker $30k - $500 + $600 dealer fees + $575 shipping + tax.

Sales tax is calculated based on your residence county. You tell them or the dealer will look it up and put it in the purchase agreement. I guess if there are discrepancies, DMV, who collects it, will refund or ask for more money during registration.

After doing a search, there really aren't any used ones available yet, but I did find a fantastically priced new one (http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...6823&aff=oodle). It's a new BRZ (manual transmission) priced at $24,201 at the Milea Subaru dealership in Bronx, NY. |

Not always true. Recently, when BMW brought only 740 2012 1Ms into the US, they were selling for ~15K over MSRP on the used market. This was not dealerships, but individuals. There is more than 740 BRZs or FRSs, but as you mention nearly none in the used market.

True, but the twins certainly aren't going to be limited in production. The more that are produced, the cheaper they will be. |

There are regulations, inspections, taxes based on where the car is made (Japan), etc... If the car is made in NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) then it will be tax free, but it's not so you may get hit with a lot of tax. You need to read this website www.riv.ca |
