Edmunds expecting BRZ MSRP at $25,300

It SHOULD be more expensive than the Scion tC but less expensive than the WRX. It also isn't as well equipped as the base Gen Coupe so I'd expect it somewhere in that range.

And if it is more expensive than the Gen Coupe, that's a tough sell indeed.

Take base model of chassis not the make. In this case the base FRS price(even though you're buying the Subaru, its made in the same plant and tooling) and then subtract 6% or higher depending on the relationship, ratings and volume the dealer pushes then you'll have your true invoice. That percent is used for franchise overhead and pocket lining, this does not include dealer incentives not to be confused with buyer incentives.

TMC financing(a biggie), Warranty work, OoW work and parts sales are the money makers.

You'll never see a real invoice unless you are an employee you'll get shown the slightly under msrp price but fake invoice. Even the parts and accessories are 40-45% above cost which the dealer makes good on when you add options or need replacement parts

A friend of mine who is a Sales Manager of a large volume Toyota/Scion dealer explained this to me and there is nothing you can do knowing this, because they don't need to sell this low volume car near invoice and it' none of the consumers business to know this.

You can haggle Subarus easily and on top of that owner loyalty discount, student, military which can all be compounded.. VIP can't be compounded and is only restricted to certain makes, BRZ might be excluded.

Pure price is pure bs. Don't believe it, if you're patient and descrete(during a test drive not in showroom) you can haggle a Scion granted it will not move more than the Subaru because it's closer to invoice from the get go, but you'll get 6-700 off msrp and discounted accessories.

When I haggle I go for free accessories and 1200 minimum off msrp, I've always got what I wanted. Gotta find the poor sucker salesman who needs to boost sales that month at a loss in commission to keep a table, preferbly the guy on the heavy side and not so dressy. Stay away from the always smiling, heavy cologne wearing, done up hair, metro'd colored shirt and slacks guy sporting a $600 watch $150 shoes 50 tie, they are mother*******.

You are not gonna be able to haggle a Scion FR-S with in the first 1 or so because supposedly they are only going to build 3000 a year. But if you look for dealers up north...like Minot ND....during the winter....You might be able to scope one at a ridiculously low price....

They have the BRZ for Spring 2012 and the FRS for Winter 2012...odd.

Could be various reasons, the greatest odds of which is that this was somehow part of the agreement/arrangement between Toyota and Subaru. Not that big of a deal.

Sounds like thats right. The only reason i asked was from their recent interview with Subaru's Pres saying "they did it all." If that was the case why would they releasing later? But i dont know much on that so i won't say much else. lol

I would ignore that article and write it off as trying to stir up trouble. It's the same dang car for both and they were in this 50/50 from the beginning.

I was speaking more in terms of sales movement of the car and haggling down the price a few thousand or so under MSRP.

If its literally zipping off the lot faster than they can keep them in stock, they'll be much less likely to give you a fat discount just because you 'haggled'.

On the flip side, if sales are slow, you have a better chance haggling because well hell, the car's aren't moving fast enough.

The only thing pure price really helps on is dealer mark-up on low-volume / fast sale cars, which is what the FR-S/BRZ will fall into. I remember when I worked at a Toyota dealership back in '05 that they couldn't keep tC's in stock, they were moving so fast. Get 2-3 off a truck and every single one of them were already sold. It was ~ a 3-4 month waiting period to get one. At least with pure price, the dealership couldn't charge above MSRP.
