FWIW, I've been saying all along that the hopes for a base price of ~$20k were unrealistic. It's 2011. You can't even buy a Focus for $20k anymore. |

Well Ford has the Focus MSRP listed as $16,500. I understand what you meant, but does this also mean we should be expected to throw down $3,500 more for a realistically equipped FR-S? I think that's why most of us were hoping for a $20,000 price; we knew there's usually more added to become an everyday car.

Bullshit Sebastian, a base focus is well under 20k(17k). You are talking about a fully loaded focus.

I think 23k is more reasonable as a base.

Obviously I want the car as cheap as it makes sense. But I expected 23-25k. Anything above 25k and I really start to reconsider as there are many other options that I'd likely look at then..
20k would be a awesome price but I really don't expect it. Either way, the cheaper it is the more money I can spend on other cars :P

23k for the FR-S would sound okay I'm just wishing for 23k for the BRZ, but 25k seems most likely from all this speculation. If that's the case then I'll wait on the WRX most likely.

Completely difference types of cars. Pick whichever one suits you the most, but don't pick just on price.

That's true no doubt about that, but the price will always be a factor. When they release I will be able to make my choice. Till then what else can I say, I'm still young man, I got other things in plan to put my money to use as well.

The "base" FR-S/BRZ is going to come with a lot more standard hardware than your average base economy car: ~200hp, 6-speed transmissions, LSD, alloys, etc. I'm also not expecting to have to add thousands in option packages to the FR-S/BRZ to make it tolerable. Like the WRX, the "base" model will probably not be a poverty-spec car like it is in cars like the Focus. The FR-S/BRZ twins will never be volume sellers, and therefore Toyota and Subaru don't have the pressure to undercut competitor's base prices like they do with their bread and butter models. Therefore, they can afford to make the "base" model more of a realistic option. I expect the base price to ring in right around $25k, but I also don't expect to have to add many options to get a car I actually want to live with. |

Interesting, finally got to a desktop and the full version of Edmunds doesn't show the price like you guys mentioned. However it is still being shown on the mobile version. I'm really not making this up.
![]() Not that it matters, since it is still speculation on the part of Edmunds. But still interesting to note what auto "experts" expect the car to cost. Hopefully Toyota/Subaru won't disappoint us. ![]()

Weird, didn't know the mobile sites displayed it. Oh well I wonder why the main page doesn't show it.
Hmmm I still think 20-22k is more reasonable at least for a Scion stand-point. Scion vehicles inherently are not expensive, and none of the previous models have even reached 20k (Well, I'm not including the special version like the new ... uh bright yellow Zeus tC?). No idea for Subaru but the price should roughly be between the Impreza and the WRX. Higher than the WRX just doesn't seem feasible in my eyes. I dunno... I'll try to be optimistic but eh... ... *sigh* |
