if you have the OEM michelins, they're actually grand touring summers, not all seasons.

the bridgestone turanzas are all seasons iirc.

I've used the BF Goodrich tires for quite a lot of drifting and I've been happy with them. They hold up very well. As far as grip levels go, I like the Hankook V12s better...I've only done a bit of drifting on these, so can't really say how sturdy the compound is when massively abused.

My Christmas gift to my car are Weds TC105s which are much lighter than stock, but an inch wider (17 x 8 +42). I'm looking for the perfect size and compound to preserve the fun of the car. I'm considering putting the stock tire size Continental DWs on them (215/45-17), but would it be wiser to step up to a 225? Both sizes appear to weigh 20 pounds on TireRack.

I've read that a good rule of thumb is to have the tire tread width the same width as the wheel width. Unfortunately, these tires say "NA" in the specs for tread width. Since all tires are different when it comes to this, I don't know which to choose. Any advice?

225/45/17 will fit fine, 215/45 is a bit narrow but still within the rim width range for that size. I ran 225/45/17 size on skinnier wheels (7.5") and plan to run that size on these exact wheels as well. Unfortunately, the numbers mean little since manufacturers vary compared to each other; compare the stock 215 width to a Dunlop Direzza Star Spec 215 width and you'll see what I mean.
