Not to veer too off topic of this thread, but I think I am going to sell it private party when the time comes. I got my self into a crappy loan on my car and made it worse later by borrowing against it. So I still owe alot. My local Toyota dealership was having a promo saying were paying TOP DOLLAR for used Toyotas. I went to check it out, mainly just curious. They said they MIGHT be able to give me $4K for my Yaris. They are selling private party for between $6K and $8K on a salvage title, and on average of $7K to 9K for private party. Of course dealerships are selling some 2007 Yaris's like mine for as much as 12K! I have even seen a asking price of over 14K for a 2007 Yaris! That was an auto with like 20K miles on it but STILL! And they are offering me 4K?!?! PLEEEZ!

Anyway I am hoping to strike a deal. Pay off the Yaris and keep it and I will buy a FR-S with what I am hoping will be a phatty down payment. Hmm is $6K a phatty down for a $25K car? I am going to start a new thread on this topic.

Anyway right now my plan is to try and sell my Yaris private party and then go buy an FR-S.

Sorry for writing a book.

unfortunately for Dark though, seafoam doesnt give the best cleaning power as port injection cars have which also cleans the intake track. With no fuel coming from the intake in the IS250 he can only get a combustion chamber clean. The valves will still get gunked up and deteriorate his performance.

Have you tried it, or any other such treatment?

N.B. I have never heard of a manufacturer who recommended the use of additives. For example, Honda specifically says not to use them. I never use them because, both in theory and in practice, they concern me.

^You can put seafoam in there, but you gotta make sure to oil change after running certain mins later. As for me, I don't usually put seafoam or any other stuff other than an oil.

Just bought a bottle of Seafoam a couple of days ago. I definitely need to put some in the vacuum lines as I have idle issues (also going to clean the IACV). Probably going to put a quarter or so in the gas tank, too (even though I just got new spark plugs put in). I'm not sure about putting it in the oil, though. I am toying with the idea, but still a bit worried.

Wings, help me out. If DI delivers fuel directly to the combustion chamber, does such a design even have intake valves? (Not talking about the FT-86, which is PI + DI. I'm talking about an engine that uses only DI.)

I'm confused.

Google: Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner

Will be good knowledge seeing as you'll soon own a Subaru.

I am assuming that the DI injector is injecting an air-fuel mixture.

Have I got that wrong?

Correct.

Don't be jealous, our engines still use valves down here.

Based on my limited knowledge (I recently worked my way through an auto mechanic's textbook), you do. A direct injector just atomizes the fuel directly into the cylinder head in smaller droplets to generate a more optimal air/fuel mixture and better swirl leading to more efficient and complete combustion (thus the better fuel consumption per given power output); the air itself is still drawn through the intake valve as always.

Should I put it in the current oil, and run like 30mins, then change the oil? :\ I just changed it like 400miles ago, and my engine oil capacity is 6.5 qrts. :\ that's a lot for a 2.5L car. That's a lot of money for a syn. oil.
