Created a quick (albeit wide) image with some various tire sizes (first line is stock) and tire prices for the good summer tires and a sampling of three r comps. Figured this might save a few peoples time from doing calculating it. Even if you don't want excellent summer tires the sizing and comparison to stock size is worthwhile. Since I'm only interested in performance tires the sizes don't go past 17" wheels. Logical sizes that are not listed are not listed because there were zero tires available for those sizes.

225/45/16 is still listed and I forgot to add n/a to the price of the two other r comps. I left it there because there were some tires in 245/45/16 but nothing that was of interest to me.

18s are actually faster on the track, the car becomes more sensitive, and thus requires a more experienced driver. BMI tested them on a 350z.

17 and 15 are the most popular, 15s for the miata/hondas, 17s for evo/sti/350z etc. Tires are always cheaper in 15 and 17 hehe.

BTW, I do think that picking wheels then tires is wrong, but when you find a good deal... you work with what you have.

I hear continental ExtremeContact DW is a very good tire for the price.

I don't know if anyone's posted this or a similar thing yet, so I apologize if it's a repeat:

http://rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

This is pretty helpful for comparing stock sizes with any aftermarket option you might try to pursue. It gives both the height difference as well as the percentage error that your speedometer will have (given that it thinks you're still running stock sizes).

17x8 (or 8.5) front and 17x9 (or 9.5) rear is what I am aiming for when I get the car.

With different size tires? You like understeer that much?

I'll likely replace the uber heavy OEM wheels with some RPF1 17x8s all around and 235/40s. The spec for that size tire is generally 8.5 with 8-9.5 as approved widths so I wouldn't mind finding 17x8.5s instead..
