If you guys want to run a series, I suggest you guys add me on Xbox live and we get into a Party room and talk about it. When designing a series or endurance race, there's really only 2 ways to make it fair for everyone. I'll explain those ways in a second. First off, let me explain the racing rules we have developed over the years to make compition fair. We typically run with STM and TCS forced off but we can change this if you guys dont like it. You'll be faster with a proper tuned car and these settings off anyway, but we can change if you must have it. We also run with collisions always on and damage set to cosmetic only. This was because too many "racing incidents" have happened in the past on lap 1/2/3 of a 25 lap race and people have felt the Aero damage to overwhelming to compete. We have "yellow flags" followed by a restart system which works like this. Say you crash into a wall all by yourself with nobody around. Well tough shit... can't do much but suck it up and keep driving. Say 2 cars are entering into a corner, and the following car bumps the lead car clear off the track by accident going into the braking zone. This scenerio would be deemed a "caution" and it would be up to one of the 2 drivers envolved to announce "caution" on the mic. Calling "caution" causes the leader to slow down and allows everyone to catch back up (maintaining their positions). The leader then waits until everyone is in line coming off the final corner. The leader will announce a speed (say 50 mph) which everyone must not exceed until the leader says "GO". Once the leader says "GO", the race is back on. We let the leader say "GO" at his choosing because it gives them a slight advantage and rewards them for being the leader at the time of the caution. After all, its not normally the leaders fault for the yellow flag and why should they be fully penalized. Typically these rules work fairly well and most times people have no issues with them. I'm always willing to talk about changes if anyone wishes to do so. But they have served us fairly well in the past and really its the only fair thing for everyone. When it comes to designing a race or series, there's really only 2 ways to do it fairly in Forza. Both ways have their positives and negitives. The first way is "spec cars". Meaning that someone (normally me) builds a car to a specific class with a specific set of parts. None of these parts are allowed to be removed or changed. However, you can TUNE the car to your hearts content. If you don't know how to tune, I can help you or even give you a basic setup to help improve your times. But the drivers who put effort into running laps and perfecting their times, those are the drivers who do well. Spec car normally come down to tenths if not hundreths of a second difference in laptimes. The second way is to use the Forza classes themselves. We could pick a class (say C class for example) and track and then simply have at it. However, some cars are a lot faster then others in the same class. To offset this we sometimes have a "time rule" where if you do a lap faster then the agreed time, you must drop to last place before continuing the race. This idea is to get people to avoid "leaderboard cars". Anyway, I've probably gone into too much detail for you guys. But trust me, our system works and it trys to ensure everyone will have a good time without holding back the people who really want to put the effort in and go fast. If you guys have questions, please feel free to ask or hit me up on xbox live. bneale

^That actually sounds really cool. I can build drift cars and get a decent tune out of them but when it comes to grip cars, I usually just buy a tune setup and go with it. lol, Maybe you can teach me sometime, my GT is GamerX720

I suggest you let me find you guys a RWD car for C class. I will make sure its fast as hell for Laguna Seca and I will provide you guys the setup list when I'm finished. I can also send you guys my tune to give you a place to start for your own tuning setups. As of now, those who do not have me on the friends list should add me. just search "bneale" and you'll find me. I'll add GamerX720 when I get home. I'll be on later this evening to talk about this. I should be online at 9pm EST or 6pm PST. bneale

A spec series thing sounds pretty cool. Not sure how often I'd be able to join up though. My gamer tag is the same as my username on here.

Sorry about that, I meant to say no Spec since we're running different cars. I was thinking either Spec Miata, Altezza, or a RX.

Looks like things are getting serious on here for Forza. I'd do this once I get back from Vacation though.

In terms of a Spec Car, I was thinking I'm gonna try and keep it Toyota. Since you picked Laguna Seca, first thing which jumps to mind is an MR-S. It's small, light weight (very important for Laguna) and we'll be able to get decent amount of grip and power. The MR-S should be perfect for C. All the cars you picked are better for B class except the Miata. MX5 would be good for C. But the NA or NB versions of the Miata will be better in D. I have an AMAZING tune for a D class NA Miata. Awesome to drive. I can explain why they are better B class cars, but its probably too much detail for here. Basically its about weight vs grip though. Let me work my magic. I promise you guys a good car. I've been doing this too long to fail! bneale

If we can gather a group of 6+ people, Forza will be really good. I used to race everyday with people but because friends have got new jobs/school/life, the good old days of Forza are gone. What I would like to do is gather everyone on here as a group and combine my friends with the FT86 people. With those numbers, we should be always able to get a race going. bneale

It's a great idea bneale but I'm not going to restrict it to one car for now. Different cars do better on the different tracks. If you share your build I would still appreciate it and at least try it but I am going to run my own build when we race.
And I need some track recommendations, one from each of you. |

If you just leave it to RWD, C class, and Laguna Seca, I'm sure Dragonjet and I will probably find the fastest cars. It will be a RAPING. I'm sure of it. (I know I'm sounding cocky right now. But thats not the point. I'm trying to warn you guys here before its too late) Hence the reason why we should go "Spec Cars". Each person should have the same car and same parts. All that should seperate each other is the driver and the tune. It's the only real fair way to race Forza. If you go with just C class cars, you won't have a balanced series. I can tell you from experience that the faster the cars go, the smaller the group of cars you can start from. IE, if your Altezza runs 1:20's and my Miata runs 1:16's in the same class. What are you gonna do? You're going to ditch the Altezza for something more Miata like. Eventualy there will be less and less cars you can pick from simply because I would have already selected the best one. You should really listen to me on this. I know how to balance things out in Forza and I can tell you for sure, what you're trying to do is almost impossible to make fair. As much as Forza wants you to believe a C class 425 car is the same as another, its not. Not at all. bneale

Let's keep this thread alive guys!! The more people we can gather to form a Forza group, the better.
I tried adding GamerX720 but you have not accepted my friend request!! If anyone else hasn't added me yet, either post your gamer tag or look for me using "bneale". bneale

![]() Spec MX-5 anyone? And I'm removing the forced aids part. After talking to Dragonjet and Hairy Ape, it seems kind of superfluous.

Spec MX5's are a good idea. I prefer the NA Miata myself but the MX-5 does have a stiffer chassis.
However, I still nominate the 92 Ford Escort in B class as our Spec car. I know Dragon agrees also. The reason why I suggest this is because it happenes to be the best AWD car I've found. Handles really well and doesn't have much understeer if you max the rear roll bar. It will be easier to drive then C class Miatas or MX-5's for the new people. But I'm good with either of them really. I can share the tune later today if needed. bneale
