Holy crap guys, if you can read that far don't skip a page. I was the first to point out what you're trying to re-point out to me (dead batteries, see post 46) three times already.

Mclaren hit pretty hard. Dude is lucky he walked away in one piece. Glad all involved walked away unharmed.

Just got done listening to the interview on MotoIQs podcast. (It's a ways into the broadcast)
According to Crawford, the session where the McLaren incident happened was a free-pass session for advanced drivers with no point-bys required. He says the McDriver had just passed two other (stock) BRZs easily then moved to the inside to pass him. Apparently he didn't expect the performance from the Crawford BRZ and simply ran out of track at too high a speed and lost control. "Even if we hadn't made contact, he would have lost control." "It's just one of those racing incidents." In one of the earlier sessions where Quirt was riding along in the Crawford BRZ while someone else drove it, the 458 driver did the same thing (minus loss of control and slam) but they were able to see him coming and just give a wide berth. In that session, point-bys were supposed to be required. Neither driver of the incident were very incensed about it, but apparently the other drivers may have heated the situation up a bit afterwords. I encourage everyone to listen to the interview to get it from (one of) the horse's mouth. In any case, no witch hunt required as these things happen. We can only do our best to make sure we do everything in our power to prevent them. http://www.livestream.com/motoiqradio Edit: Crawford did NOT have a camera on the car during the incident, so I wouldn't hold out for any additional footage to show. I watched the video and good lord, the noise that made when it hit the wall! How fast was the McLaren going when he lost it?

I heard somewhere he might have been doing 70 before hitting the wall. I gotta say though Mclaren's are definitely engineered with safety in mind. You can tell the outer shell took most of the impact, and the passenger tub seems unscathed. I know I'd be blown if it were my car though, but thats just how things at the track go sometimes. At least this happened at track and not out on some public road somewhere.

Maybe the McLaren driver plays too much Forza online. That's how pretty much everyone takes turn one of every race - dive to the inside at full speed and hold on!
