Here are a few suggestions. Please feel free to give input or your own suggestions.

Meeting places:
* Carlswald Center - Midrand. Cnr of Lever Rd and New Rd
* Pineslopes Shopping Center - Fourways. Cnr of Witkoppen Rd and The Straight Ave
* StoneRidge Shopping Center - Greenstone Hill. Cnr Hereford Rd and Blackrock Rd

Destinations:
* Wimpy - Magaliesburg. Along the R509. Unsure of road conditions
* Harties - Hartbeespoort - Along the R511 / R512 (I think R511 road is slightly better while R512 view is slightly better.)
* Emerald Casino/Wimpy - Vanderbijlpark - Frikkie Meyer Blvd. Can go via R59 or N1/R57.

Or we can just meet for a late afternoon pint at a bar somewhere and snap a few pics and talk shit. ;-) :happy0180:

I'm happy with Brian's suggestions. The sales manager at Toyota The Glen is also driving an 86. Will ask him if he would like to join us on the 4th.
* Pineslopes Shopping Center - Fourways. Cnr of Witkoppen Rd and The Straight Ave - is a good idea to meet and two possible suggestions to drive to would be Harties or Emerald Casino.
Can we decide soon as time is running out and we need to finalise but need everyone’s consensus as we don't want just three or four cars going as this would be pointless?

Awesome... So the 4th is official and set. Invite any other 86 drivers on that day!

With regards to the route. Are we all meeting up in one spot? Or in 2 or 3 places, then all together at the final meet up?

I'd say 1 spot would be the best idea. My suggestion just gave 3 different possibilities for you all to decide on which you'd prefer and then we'll go with the majority. What ever that may be.

So here's my pick.
Meet at Stoneridge in Greenstone and drive to the Wimpy in Magaliesburg.

But I'm flexible so feel free to make your own suggestions and we'll eventually all agree on something. But let's do it quickly so that we can finalize the details

Hi Guys. Tonight I am going to plan out 3 routes (Cullinan, Harties, Magaliesburg) via Googlemaps and send you images links, map links etc. Its the only we will be able to decide what route to choose... We can then see which route is the best one via votes....

So the route "Should" be confirmed by tomorrow....

Full Details...

OK guys like I said in my last post, I want to go through the route suggestions one by one and see which is the best option.... This has taken me a while to do, so please excuse me if I missed a route or road etc....

As far as a starting point is concerned I think meeting at the Maxis Restaurant (Restaurant over the N1 highway, Midrand) is the best place to meet. Reason being its the best compromise better PTA and JHB drivers, and a good central point to start the breakfast run. I would meet there at 08:00.

Leaving from Maxis we have are 3 options. Harties, Cullinan or Magaliesburg:

1. Harties
Please see the screenshots below and comments:

http://oi45.tinypic.com/1428v37.jpg Going West as an alternative
http://oi45.tinypic.com/eq2mpk.jpg Going West as an alternative
http://oi45.tinypic.com/2vtwco6.jpg Final Stopoff point at Wimpy for breakfast

2. Cullinan
Please see the screenshots below and comments:

http://oi50.tinypic.com/2ir7jpe.jpg Continue on N1
http://oi45.tinypic.com/2zp8ltd.jpg Go east on R513
http://oi45.tinypic.com/14y2bl.jpg Continue on R513
http://oi45.tinypic.com/1sgq54.jpg Continue on R513
http://oi45.tinypic.com/2hrdd9x.jpg Continue on R513
http://oi45.tinypic.com/24qo18p.jpg Final Stopoff at Cullinan Premier Hotel for breakfast

3. Magaliesburg
Please see the screenshots below and comments:
http://oi45.tinypic.com/r73fjo.jpg Route Plan
http://oi45.tinypic.com/23k3ww8.jpg Go West on Olifantsfontein Road from N1
http://oi45.tinypic.com/syro95.jpg Go West on Summit Road
http://oi45.tinypic.com/20jpt3a.jpg Go South-West on N14
http://oi45.tinypic.com/9usqbo.jpg Go South-West on N14
http://oi45.tinypic.com/2wmn8u0.jpg Go South-West on N14
http://oi45.tinypic.com/a1miqv.jpg Go West on N14
http://oi45.tinypic.com/333ix6t.jpg Go North-West on N14 was Tarlton Raceway (possible drinks break)
http://oi45.tinypic.com/ngu8fs.jpg Continue North-West
http://oi45.tinypic.com/ztj9m9.jpg Final Stopoff point at Wimpy for breakfast

Looking at the screenshots above I don't think the roads to Harties are suitable for the low 86, and potholes are an issue. Also there is lots of single lane roads that we could get held up by if there are lots of trucks on the day... Cullinan has some has some good looking stretches on the R513, but Im still concerned about the single lane roads and maybe the odd donkey stepping into the road. Magaliesburg for me is the best option... There is one stretch of single road, but the majority of the road is double road. The other positive about Magalies is the Tarlton International Raceway. I will talk to the manager during the week and see if we can maybe organise a stop off for a drink and photo opportunities, if somewhere here knows him/her personally and can help with that please let me know.. If Sav and I can organise Official Toyota PR or Speed and Sound etc we could possibly do so here...
I will also book the table at Magalies Wimpy.

Speed traps I'm sure will be on all three options, so I haven't looked more into that....

This GTG is a breakfast run, but looking at the map, the road to Magalies should mean a lunch rather than breakfast... Just saying...

So.... is it safe to say we are in agreement with the above route? on the 4th meet at Maxis at 08:00 then drive through to Magaliesburg Wimpy for a early lunch/drink? If we have consensus on this route then we will finalise all bookings/route details etc.... I am not in the office tomorrow (12th Oct), but please leave your comments

I'm up for any starting point, as long as it's to Magaliesburg. But I do agree that meeting up in Midrand is probably the best. So I've made this map based on Matts' route for everybody to access, and for those of you who have Andriod phones -

How is the road to Magalies? If it's good then that or Cullinan gets my vote. Harties is definitely not an option for our cars unfortunately.

08:00, 4 November at Maxis sounds good and is nice & central.
We're also going to need numbers - passengers included.

I drove to the Wimpy in Magalies about a yr and a half ago and from what I remember, the roads were all fine. Hence suggesting it as a possible destination. But anything can happen in a yr though so let's hope they're all ok and that we have good weather and visibility on the day to avoid potholes etc if we do come across any.

Thanks for all the work on the routes etc, Matt_RSA! Much appreciated.

I guess all we need now is confirmation from people attending.
I WILL see you on the 4th @ 8am @ Maxis N1 Bridge.

Yip. Rear seats have specific baby seat clips. Probably the only thing useful about them
