BRZ Purchase Price & Payments

I believe on the fr-s forum they have discussed this topic, but it is in regards to the fr-s only(i believe).

I was wondering what people are paying for their BRZ's and what fees the dealer is throwing on.

For me I live in Ontario, Canada. This is what my invoice says

Subaru BRZ - Sport Tech - White
---
Total Sale Price .......................$29,295
Freight....................................$1595
Federal Air Conditioner Tax..........$100
Tax for Fuel Consumption.............n/a
Administration Fee......................$499
OMVIC Fee............................$5

Total Vehicle Price....................$31,949
G.S.T. on Total Vehicle Price.......$4094.22
Fuel........................................$60
Total Purchase Price..................$35,648.22

I was wondering what the heck the administration fee covers. My vehicle hasn't arrived yet, it was suppose to arrive in June(from what the dealer told me AHAH) but they said it would arrive in December, so this seems to be the total price unless they add some b.s. extra fees.

How's other peoples purchase prices looking like?

Administration fee is the cost for one of their eight dollar an hour clerks to run to the DMV once a week with a handful of new transactions for processing by the state. Huge rip-off. I don't know what shipping normally runs in Canada but my shipping on a FR-S here in Arizona was half of what you have their. Our local Subie dealer is selling for MSRP and is not jacking up the price like most.

2013 Subaru BRZ Limited 6AT WRB
Price............. $28,676 (destination included)
Admin fee...... $149
--------------
Total............ $28,825

Title/Tax....... $1,867 (since I bought out state, I have to register and pay tax myself)

Grand Total.... $30,692

They charge you $60 for fuel? WTF, that ain't right... you are buying a new vehicle and they are not paying for a tank of gas? I'd go somewhere else if I were you.

I work at a dealer and have always refused to pay the admin fee and any straight up salesman will cross it out once they realize you know it's a made up number.

My brz broke down like this

Premium/base: 27 295
Freight/pdi 1 595
A/C tax 99
AMVIC fee 5
+ GST
30443.70

The admin fee is in essence their profit fee. Some states require it by law such as Florida being something like 3%.

Often times if the dealer is actually charging for registering your car plates then that fee is supposed to be part of that admin/documentation fee. This is however a bloated charge as well because it will always be cheaper to register it yourself by a large margin and they should not be able to force you to pay them to do what you can do. They just strong arm most people to accept it.

Without knowledge of which states require this mandated profit, it can be overlooked by buyers in the process with price negotiations.
