True, but only one of those cars out of all you listed are luxury cars.

F-type falls under luxury sports car/grand tourer.

Four-cylinder F-Type

Saw this today. Interesting.. but I wouldn't say it's better looking..

"According to a new report form AutoExpress, Jag officials are considering placing a four-cylinder engine in the F-Type. “As long as we can deliver the character and performance we expect of the car, we would be open to a four cylinder,” said Program Director Russ Varney in a recent interview.

Varney suggested that the four-cylinder F-Type could come with somewhere in the market of 350 horsepower with the benefit of turbocharging. It would likely be the same I4 turbo engine we’re expecting to see in the new XE sedan later this year at the Paris Motor Show.
Continuing on, Varney said that “As long as we can deliver an honesty and legitimacy about the performance of the F-Type, then we can use whatever powertrain we like.”

No official confirmation has been given by Jag as of yet, but a four-cylinder F-Type does sound enticing. Sort of like the more powerful, better-looking FR-S we were hoping for. Except from Britain."

Unless its gonna cost considerably less than a 6 cylinder, there's no point.

And at 350 hp, it doesn't sound like it would be considerably less.

That's an odd quote. Even with a 4-cylinder turbo engine, this isn't anything like a more powerful, better looking FR-S.

- This theoretical F-Type would have 350 hp, a much more luxurious interior, and a price tag well north of $50k.

- The lightest F-Type weighs 3521 lbs, or nearly 800 lbs more than an FR-S. Doubtful a 4-cyl turbo would save much weight.

The F-Type is a powerful, luxury FR coupe. Adding a 4-cyl turbo won't change that. Just an odd comparison.

Unless they do a stripper version and get the thing under 3,300 lbs this is in no way appealing to me. Even then that would put it at a disadvantage to the lowly 370Z and Mustang GT that go for <$35k. The only advantage of a fourbanger would be weight, fuel economy and possibly balance, but it'd probably be pretty complex and we all know the reputation Jag has for reliability as it is.

I honestly think a 300-320 hp version priced to undercut the Boxster/Cayman/Alfa 4c at around $50k would do well in America but like Dark said, it's still a heavy luxo-coupe and an engine won't change that.

No six speed manual option means I won't ever consider this car regardless of how beautiful it is.

I saw one of these parked in Sausalito last week (I had seen a V8 one drive by when I was in NYC last year but didn't get as good of a look), I see them sort of as the slightly more affordable Aston Martin. Looks really good, kind of fast because it has a lot of power, and extremely heavy for no reason (full aluminum body 2 seats??). My brother who isn't really into cars commented that it looks way more than 80k.

That's pretty sweet. Not sure I'd buy a Jag to track with, but I bet it'd be a blast.

Jaguar F-Type Project 7 Reviewed By Harry Metcalfe

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rloxi8MQAw[/ame]

Quote:
Jaguar is fighting the very best from Germany with the roll-out of new models and special, performance-focused variants.

One of its most recognizable efforts over the past two years is certainly the F-Type Project 7.

With just 250 units sold globally, Harry Metcalfe, the founder of Evo Magazine, is one of the very lucky owners.

Well, seeing as he has left the magazine and assumed an advisory role at Jaguar Land Rover's SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) division, he had the privilege of owning the very first example.

Given that the Project 7 is an all-British car, it's appropriate that Metcalfe optioned his car in British Racing Green, and then added bright orange and white accents as a throwback to classic Jaguar racers.

Apart from its obvious visual and aerodynamic changes and the weight-saving measures, the Project 7 is powered by the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 as the F-Type R. However, it now puts out 575 hp and 680 Nm, leading Metcalfe to say that the car feels like it has a bit too much power - even more than the Pagani Zonda S he used to own!

Jaguar F-Type SVR Confirmed For Geneva Motor Show Debut

Quote:
Only days after a number of images leaked online, Jaguar confirmed that the high-performance F-Type SVR will indeed launch at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show on March 1.

Alongside this confirmation, the British marque has also released the first three official images of the car, showing it in both coupe and convertible guises.

While we'll have to wait until February 17 for full details about the F-Type SVR, Jaguar says it will be capable of hitting 320 km/h (200 mph) and as expected, by produced by Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations department, becoming the first series production car manufacturer by the exclusive division.

According to a leaked brochure, the F-Type SVR will utilize the same supercharged 5.0-liter V8 of the F-Type R models but rather than 542 hp, will pump out 567 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque. When coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the car will reach 100 km/h in a blistering 3.7 seconds.

Images reveal that the potent sports car will also be adorned with a range of visual and aerodynamic tweaks over lesser models. For example, a new bonnet with air extractors has been fitted, a more pronounced front splitter is present and a large fixed wing is found at the rear.

Quote:
"Lighter, faster and more powerful" is what Jaguar has to say about its new F-Type SVR, which was just confirmed for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

The high-performance machine will be visually different compared to its sisters and will get a range of aerodynamic tweaks, such as the new bonnet with air extractors, a more pronounced front splitter and the large fixed wing found at the rear.

Mods won't stop here as Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations (SVR) division has added an adaptive sports suspension system too, an electronic differential and optional carbon ceramic brake placed behind unique 20-inch wheels. The interior will be updated with different trimmings.

The manufacturer didn’t have much to say on the F-Type SVR's performance, except that it will be capable of reaching 320km/h (200mph), with previous leaked data revealing that a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine will send 575PS (567hp) and 575Nm (424lb-ft) to the all-wheel drive system, through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

While the F-Type R needs 4.2sec for 0-100km/h (62mph) in the RWD and 4.1sec with AWD, the 25PS (25hp) and 25Nm (18lb-ft) of torque more offered on the F-Type SVR will allow it to do the same in just 3.7 seconds.

Full details on Jaguar's newest vehicle are yet to be released.

For some reason I don't like the sound if it's v8... Seems artificial with the cracks and pops. Much prefer the smoother sound of the gt350 fpc v8. However, gorgeous car nonetheless
