looks like the one in my old miata; the one that no longer exists in unbroken condition on any 99-00 miata ever. lol

but this one has got 13 extra years of technology behind it so I'd be in for one if it turns out to be sturdy.

One that snaps in and out while not in use is the most flexible and cheapest while still looking great. Hinge on the back is my 2nd choice - even being really tall it's not like you'll be power racing with some starbucks in the holders. And if it does come down it bumps the cup (VW holders did this and were great). Side opening is the least flexible IMO.

Still not sure if double stitched or single looks better - it's in close prox to the seats, and the shifter and ebrake book (if you get it) are double as well.

The company developing the armrest might want to take a look at the one in the new Acura ILX. It has a similar dimension, but just looks better - more like OEM.

This pic shows it, but not at the best angle. It looks better when you see it.

I would like to see this have the rough textured leather material that is on the doors. The smooth texture doesn't match what's in the car. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing. It's a simplistic approach that seems sturdy. If you hinge it off the back you would have less hinge and the height when open to accomodate drinks would make it prone to breaking. Who can drive with a drink in the cup holders anyway. Every time I shift with a a rockstar in the cup holder I get rockstar on my elbow. Cup holders in the center are useless on this car.
