In person there is a VERY noticeable difference. Although quality of the tint makes a huge difference. That super cheap stuff they sell at wal mart? It'll be purple in two years more than likely. For something like tint, expensive almost always equals better. Getting my raven done tomorrow, probably doing 35% (missouri law) on the doors and 20% on the sides and rear. will post pics.

Yes it's all about the lighting mostly.. During the nighttime you won't see details of a person with my 35% front but during the daytime you can see clearly, just with a light tint. I don't know how some people do 20% front in CA, it's really noticeable and obvious while my 35% is perfect, I'd like 20% front but I don't wanna risk it, I rather have a little tint than having to take my tint off later.

At certain angles my tint looks darker also, good enough to look stealthy yet nothing to raise issues with CHP. Driving around here after midnight will get you pulled over for that reason alone, it's just an excuse to pull you over more than anything else.

I've lived in California for a bit now and never had tint lighter than 15%, and I've never been pulled over. On another note at least in California I feel it's a necessity to get 5% on the back window. Too many lifted trucks and beater cars with cheap hid kits in reflector housings. Even the ones that buy projectors have no idea how to level them or the level law so they point stupid high.

You guys getting full tint on the windshield, how dark would you go so it isn't a waste of $$?

I'm going 20% on all other glass but haven't decided on that yet.

Thanks!

20% all around except for the windshield of course. Dealership gave it to me for free and did a fantastic job.

20% On all but the windshield, my tint guy cut just before the dimples on the rear quarter panels and it turned out really well, still really glad I got the tint

Low Price Auto Glass - Dublin, CA (I highly recommend, as well)
$235, lifetime warranty
SolarGard 20% all around.

They cut the film well past the dot matrices, so no gap (my preference); there were some air pockets between the dots right after the job but I can press them out a day after parking it in the sun. *EDIT: Scratch that, they went away on their own. Silly me

35% all around, 3M tint

The pic is deceiving, the back window isn't that dark, but 35% does look great on the BRZ.
