I do the - "Park next to the more expensive car" trick...I find Benz owners to be very careful with their doors.

Now, how do we prevent them from slamming their car door into our god machines?
I personally recommend that you install flamethrowers to go off automatically but im also open for other suggestions.

Yes I mad.
i try to "crawl" up as close as i can get to a curb, and allow plenty of room on the other side where the next space is.seems to work for me as i never get hit!.''MOST'' people will park in the proper lanes and center the car in that space so there will be plenty of room on the drivers side

he! he! he! love it! "asshole magnet!" (hot damn) you are certainly correct on that!

think about it: much better to make your car inconspicuous than be a target.

just park next to someone that you think wont ding your car.
this is true! if you park too far out,you become a target,as the "nut cakes" will fu*k with it!..just sayin'

"container casualty!" love it! and damn straight! car will be shipped over seas in a "new york" minute!..bye! bye!

Parking next to cart corrals, end curbs, and handicap filler spots (spot with diagonal lines to allow more space for the handicap spot) at least protects you from one side. The nice thing about parking next to handicap spots with the filler spot, you can edge up all way to the edge of the filler spot since no one can park there.

When possible, park next to other new cars.
trying to protect one side is a given! parking next to ANYBODY'S CAR is a
definite "no-no!"

A friend of mine owns a 2 year old Lamborghini Gallardo. He's always complaining to me about jerks who own Scions and Subaru's parking next to him in parking lots...

Best advice I can give you all is if you are next to 1 car try to park your car on their passenger side because a lot of time there will only be a driver so the passenger door won't get opened.

I also like to park near fancier cars because I think that those owners have as much to lose or more by hitting my car.

So, as a former owner of a shitbox, here is why this happens:

"Oh, look at this asshole who thinks he is so special that he can't park near any other cars in order to protect his precious princess. Well, joke's on you guy, you aren't special, and I will prove it to you by parking right next to you! HA!"

What you really need to do is not be so conspicuous, and if possible park next to somebody who looks like they are just as anal about their car as you are.

well if theres a empty parking space, someones bound to park next to you.. happens to me to no matter how i try to avoid. did he ding your car? if not, then why u mad?
and parking your car far away does make it feel isolated and an easy target, so i just try to blend in, and if possible park near cars that are more expensive than you that seem to be well taken care of or at the edge of the parking lot.
sometimes i see evo's and end up parking next to them, not being an asshat, just admiring and want to check out the car, but im careful getting out since i dont want to ding it lol.

IMO, I think it's more of a psychological thing; the way some people park next to you even in an empty lot.

Lets see...The next person coming into the lot sees your car; nothing else...What do they do?
They park right beside you...why?

I think it's a natural instinct for some... The mind doesn't like things scattered/fragmented; instead, wants to keep things organized... In our case, parking together as a group in line (right beside you) maybe? I would imagine the next person doing the same and would either park next to you or the other person. Mind you, these would probably be the "normal" people who aren't as enthusiastic about their cars like us and probably don't ever care to check their cars for dents and etc. (Don't mind me...I honestly don't know what I'm blabbering about...)

Either that, or they just love/hate your car and there's nothing you can do about it. XD

UNLESS...

Why would I park right next to a car to admire it? If that was the case i'd park at least one space away to get the full view instead of having my car obstruct it.

Also why park far away right next to a nice car just for spite? Seems like too much work to 'get back at the special asshole'.

I parked in an isolated spot for literally 5 minutes to come back and see a beater pick up parked in three lanes diagonally (spot in front of me and to the side and the corner of my spot). only reason i can come up w/ is the spite factor which is just ridiculous.

I agree on everything except the cart corrals.
