Which is why i've always said street all along. In R32/3/4 GTR, if you aren't on boost, they are slow. 1670kgs is a lot of weight to be throwing around corners in an R34.

V-Spec is still stock Nisan spec
That's ok man, I just said an ek R can beat an R32 GTR around Tsukuba. It can. That's 1.6L 4cyl NA of Honda's finest quicker around a smooth flowing racetrack than Nissan's 6 cyl twin turbo 'godzilla'. Say what you will, but many a man has been brought down by a little Honda that could.

But hey, I'm just a realist. I'd kill for an R35 GTR..... If they weren't $180k here, I'd have one.

It's never just about outright power. Weight and handling are always number one. Which is why this FT86 should be a ripper!

Oops, forgot Mazda!
Everything Mazda is doing now is gold. They cutting weight in every car! They putting out quite a few good cars, like their MPS's. I was never interested in the RX8, but the series 6-8 RX7 is still arguably the best looking car ever made! I'm very interested in the RX9, but fuel economy is a major factor for me.

Honda only got the JDM civic R which is a god in it's own right, but it's JDM only. I see you guys getting a K24 civic coupe next year, that is going to be one hell of a popular car. Everything they doing is boring. My CU2 is my daily, I got it because my old CL9 was an awesome car. The CU2 is not 1/2 as fun to drive, but it gets 7.5-8L/100kms (you can do the conversion, but it's really good!) with a bit of spirited driving.

Subaru and Mitsubishi are equal in my books, I just prefer evo's as they have always dominated in the past. The evo X's weight makes it fail, the hatchback makes Subaru fail lol!

Toyota are boring, but boring cars sell the most. Toyota certainly best quality and reliability, but they most expensive Japanese cars (over here).

Nissan doing everything right, just the cost way too much (over here again), and reliability seems to be touch and go. Servicing and spare parts easily most expensive (over here). Cars like 350z, 370z and GTR have kept the Japanese sports car scene alive. I was so disappointed when they dropped the S16 project, I had a S15 and it was a lovely car. I shouldn't have sold it, but someone gave me an offer I couldn't refuse.

I'm not sure about that to be honest. Honda sold quite a few K20 Si, but I'm doubting the impact the K24 Si will have on the market.

I mean there's the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V that has been out since 2007 with a 200hp/180lb-ft 2.5L at ~3100lbs and its sales have been ummmm, lack-luster to put it nicely.

By contrast you have the K24 Si with -10lb-ft torque, -200lbs curb weight and +$2000MSRP. It will sell better then the hot Sentra, guaranteed. However I don't think it will have the impact that the previous generation Si had (especially the fact that it was introduced after the silly EP3 Si/SiR 160hp joke and the demise of the RSX Type-S).

I will admit the FG2/FA5 K20 Si was the only car I would consider as a replacement for my beloved XRS as a new car. It has now switched back to Toyota (and Subaru). Depending on the price of the FR-S/BRZ, it may prove a good stab at the Si target buyer in North America.

Yep, things are starting to get going in the car market!

Honda going k24 because that's what the fanboi's want. Yay for listening! Pity it's USDM only. We get the ugly as civic R hatch. Did I say ugly lol! It is nice to drive and nice inside, but it is same price as wrx and ralliart here, and it just misses on so many marks.

Theres so much excitement around this FT86, I just hope it stays true to the concept of being light and affordable. I've seen the 86 II concept car in person, I'm in love!!!

lol That's what I get for posting after having a few too many beverages. Mazda isn't too high on my list, the only thing they've ever made that has interested me was the RX7.

Styling is of course subjective. The new Si here is hardly what I'd call a looker. Honda did something quite safe, lazy, and boring putting the K24 in the Si. The head pisses me off; VTEC intake side only and exhaust manifold cast with the head. It needs a dash light to tell you that VTEC is engaged...

Things would have gone over better with a turbocharged K23A1. Too bad it's dimensions aren't ideal and it's missing a 6-speed manual. I don't find something desirable in the new Si to set it apart from the competition anymore. Que. fatonis' quote:

I haven't looked too much at all into the new civic si, we wont be getting it. Auto only is fail, and the inbuilt header is fail (same as my Honda). I'm sure head swap will be popular, they making very nice numbers with the first gen tsx motors. The biggest problem is the drive by wire system on these.

Wow, what did I miss!

Since you guys are placing your cars loyalty, here is mine!

>1999=Honda+Toyota+Mazda+Nissan(except the R35)+Mitsubishi=

So what is the outcome? TypeR isn't a Skyline fanboy while the rest of us are?

I'm no Skyline fanboi either (funny how those with the most experience with them aren't... heh...).

And no matter how fast GTRs are, they still blow up their oil pumps...
