I think they could easily make the 2500 pound mark. Hell, the last generation Celica was around the same size and weighed around 2500 pounds.

I was browsing a 2012 Camry article and think I read that it is the same size but lighter than the outgoing one. This may indicate something positive at Toyota, and I may have to force myself to re-find, re-read and retain what I read in that zzzz... article.

Edit: I'm retarded.

Subaru chassis. But the Impreza also lost weight over the previous generation. Hell the new Impreza is sub-3000lbs, so if this thing isn't people need to be fired...

Didn't Toyoda-san (Am I saying that right?) himself drive a prototype of this thing at Nurburgring? If he's a serious car guy, he can't bring us a granny car at 200 hp/3,000 lbs.

Otherwise, who is he kidding?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_...2.80.932006.29

Curb weight- 1,100 kg (2,425 lb)

I also had mine on a scale with my 125 pound body in the driver's seat. I know what I'm talking about.

+1

We already know it's probably going to be heavier than the last gen Celica but lighter than the new Impreza or Altezza which are around 2900lbs.

2500lbs-2900lbs is the range I would expect but closer to 2800lbs if I were to guess.

I, too, have been using that Wikipedia information as a guide.

They could do 2500 lbs. on the FT-86. Hell, my Fit is 2500-ish with a/c, power windows and door locks, radio+cd, and a ton of glass.

And if they can't do it, then just sell me a RWD Celica GT-S for $22k.

I would hope it would be closer to the last gen celica in weight. But, I wouldn't complain if it came in between 2700-2800 pounds.

yeah, I'm 5ft 9in and 125. I've been that since junior year in high school, about 11 years ago now?

hmmm... the scale I was on was a truck scale at the scrap yard. and considering everything I've ever read on the weight of the celica said that it's weight was roughly 2500.

http://www.toyoland.com/cars/celica.html (chart towards the bottom)

Maybe the calibration was off on the 4 corner scales? Alternately... take off your interior panels. Maybe a former owner was a drug dealer and hid 200 pounds of pot in there.
