Also check out the devils run (highway 666). The local S2000 group is doing a trip there in september. We are making a 3 day trip... im uber stoked!

I recommend stopping at Prescott and eating lunch at the Prescott brewery, try the acholypse beer. Its fantastic. Hell... bring me some back. lol. If you are a beer fan sedona has a wonderful brewery.
Nice! I have been the 'back way' up to Flagstaff before, from Sedona, and it 'is' really nice, and quite twisty. Will keep this route for future reference for sure. I don't drink, but I'd be willing to stop at the brewery if their food is as good as their beer

The Devil's run looks great... it's a shame it is so far away. Something to keep in mind for sure though. You have both an S2000 and an FR-S? How do you decide which to drive O_o

Hmm... I may have to drive out there to check it out myself. I originally had an alternate route that avoided that area altogether (see here) but opted for the final route because of the number of times I'd seen Tortilla Flats mentioned here (I've never been there myself). The hard packed dirt was actually along the 288. I actually didn't even realize there was dirt road along the 88 until it was mentioned by nelsmar.

The Vegas trip sounds like a blast. Would definitely go if I could. Looking forward to the pics.

Sold the S2000... long story, involving new job, long commutes, motorcycle accident etc that all led to me buying an FR-S without any intent of buying an FR-S lol. I miss my S2000 and plan on buying one the moment i have a garage, it will be my garage queen. =x

Did you get a ticket on the spars or yarnell hill? I had to go fight a speeding ticket from my motorcycle on the yarnell hill once. >.<
Yarnell, yeah. About half the time I blast up Yarnell its empty and devoid of cops, so I figured Id go for it since that particular weekend it seemed pretty dead. Well I was wroooooong, busted at the first trap. Typically I slam on the brakes just before getting to where the cops usually set up their speed traps but I wasnt paying enough attention and got on the brakes too late, he ganked me pretty good.

Never have any problems with cops on White Spar though, I usually meet up with some of the local miata guys up there and they scout for cops prior to our runs.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that in my old turbo miata Id go fucking ludicrous speeds because that car was set up better for grip and I never had ANY problems with cops in 5+ years. That miata was good luck, Im convinced. Should never have sold it. ;~;

The same cops patrol the spars as well... but the have less places to hide and more people haul ass through the yarnell hill at very high speeds so they usually hang out there =/ I have a video fo my incident... lol. I'll have to tell you about my experience in person. I ended up taking that shit to court in the end.

yea I should have gone to court, but its such a loooong drive up there. I probably could have gotten the ticket reduced a bit at the least, since the cop sort of admitted to not getting a good read on me and never showed me his radar gun.

I's just go with neslmar's suggestion or this revised trip. I don't see that dirt part on the 88 as being any fun on the FR-S. You can always just do a short trip to Tortilla Flat and back.

Was it the older cop? Or the younger one with dark hair? They both know me well... LOL. The older gentleman had a habit of pulling me over nearly every time i was up in Prescott at one point for being "suspicious" (pretty much). If he didn't get a good reading it would have been a good fight. The judge actually is a sweetheart... She was extremely fair when I went. I wasn't sure what to expect in a town that small where allt he cops and everyone know each other so well.

D'oh.

It was the older guy though, he was super disgruntled for whatever reason. I felt like I really shit on his day XD

It was pretty hot outside, Id be annoyed too if I just sat around all day in the heat waiting for someone to fuck up.

I can't make it. Sorry. I still have things to get done since I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow. I was hoping I'd have enough time, but no such luck.

We should plan for another time, though.
