if they have your info, why would they need the same info each time from every FRS/BRZ. the parts are standardized.

So complicated. I will call tomorrow and see if he will have them ready by then. When will you return? It would very cool to install the top hats this weekend. Plus I prepaid.

I'll be back Friday evening/afternoon depending on if I have to go pick up something from long beach for someone else.

My thoughts on the matter are that cars which commonly have bike racks added as a "style" element tend to be cars that are derived from more practical sedans and hatchbacks (GTI, Impreza STI, Lancer EVO and so on). The basis for these cars' styling was to be practical and inoffensive. The performance versions had bigger fenders, wings and aggressive fronts put on them, but the end result often can be aesthetically jarring. They look mean, but not beautiful. The bike racks go along with this, they are ostensibly practical, but also serve to break up the often large rooflines of these cars and add another aggressive element to the style of the car.

Our cars on the other hand (in my opinion anyways) are aesthetically pleasing; the low, contoured hood, sculpted front and rear fenders and gracefully curved roof all work together to provide the style of a simple but elegantly-designed sports car, not a sedan or hatchback with a body kit. I think adding a bike rack to an 86 would detract from the considerable design effort that went into the car at Toyota, particularly the proportionally short "pagoda" roof and sloped rear C-pillar.

On the other hand, I am a practical person who believes that form should follow function (a lot of the design I was mentioning above is born from aerodynamic needs). So if you need a bike rack on your car to transport a bike, put it up there and don't let anyone stop you!

Road Trip - June 14th - Tonto National Forest

Next Friday I plan on doing the drive pictured below. I mapped it out after finding part of the drive on SundayMorningRides.com. Google clocks it in at 291 miles, taking about 7.5 hours to complete. I anticipate it will take more like 10 hours, with lunch and photo ops in between. Some off the road appears to be 'hard packed dirt', but with luck I will have mud guards installed by then, and I don't anticipate anything the BRZ/FR-S couldn't handle with ease.

Was originally going to do this with a friend, but he is no longer able to make it, so I thought I'd throw it up here to see if anyone else is interested. Always good to adhere to the buddy system when traveling the unknown :happy0180:

I know most of you probably can't do a 10 hour drive on a Friday, but unfortunately this is the only opportunity I have to do this, as I work most weekends. For those of you that can't make it, feel free to run with it on another day! I plan to time-lapse record the entire drive and will post it here when I'm done.

Let me know if you are interested!
