Your eyes were not playing tricks, there is no sway bar on the front or the rear of the car right now. I removed them in preparation for the new ones to arrive tomorrow. It isn't uncommon for people to remove sway bars all together though. You can get very similar results by playing with individual spring rates and as a matter of fact one of the members on here regularly runs his car on the track without them (makes my life easier when weighing peoples cars too haha.) West is one of my favorite local tracks. AMP is right up there too. West would be number one if they would clean the track up some unless they have and I just didn't know. Main was a blast too when you go out there with high HP cars to take advantage of the uber awesome straight. That was one of the only tracks I raced where I would regularly shoot rooster tails of sparks from the front brakes coming into turn number one with aggressive pads. That track brought out everyone who had fast cars braking flaws. If you are to see glowing rotors that was the one to watch.

Not having them can make just as much sense as having them. Let say you want to induce more push (can help with too much power into turns) you run a really stiff front sway, but none in the rear. It will make the rear flex more and the tires will bite a bit more pavement. Doing the opposite can induce Oversteer.
When I was racing, I used to change shock stiffness, tire pressures, sway/tie set up, and fuel amounts based on track and lap amounts. I had all those at my will and couldn't afford anything but used bottom dollar tires. Granted, I was doing that on an AWD, so I imagine there would be a difference between RWD and AWD in the way it reacted. |

Interesting, with that lift what do you find to be a pain in the ass to work on?
On Sway Bars I am not an expert in suspension by any means I know what I like in terms of feel but that's it. Compared to when I bought the car I like the way it feels with the new sway bars but until I can hit another Marana Airfield event I will not know how it feels on the track and the turbo will also make a difference now the question is how much... I expect it to be pretty much useless but we shall see. Maybe at some point I will spend more time doing so it looks like fun but for me I seem to pref. to build things and then move on to the next thing... I guess I should stop that and start enjoying them more.

The rear mount will for sure help with your front to rear weight distribution since the car is biased toward the front in stock form.
That particular mid-lift I can do literally anything job on it.

Fyi for anyone who has an interest in true competitive tracking our car starts off in the D class. The car performs great in that class with basic performance upgrades like wheels, tires, suspension, and tuning. However once you add in power such as F.I. or headers you're now pushing up into C class where competition will be "faster".
Just thought this was good to know as learning about the competitive race pt system has caused me to adjust my selection of upgrades. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

This site is fantastic for the "physics of racing". It will teach you everything from weight transfer to calculating drag and all the way through to suspension. Based on a miata (RWD platform), this is what I used when I used to work on a formula atlantic race car, which was powered by the 4age16v and 4age20v motors between the two seasons I did. It will be a long read, but it's great information. -- I applied this to a 1995 honda civic ex rally car I was driving when I lived in CA and it didn't solve all of my problems but gave me great information to formulate ideas for all solutions. I have it printed in a binder at home. |

Lol I wish I had some of those you've been spotted cards. I did the creepy thing and waited by someone's car and acted like I was peering in the window. When the guy came out and asked if he could help me, I unlocked my car so he didn't beat my ass and told him about the forum. haha

Looking for someone with an O2 socket in the east valley that wouldn't mind loaning it for a few. Tried using a crescent but was extremely difficult. Not 100% sure on the size but i think it may be a 14
