This is true you are going to have a bad experience at some point but when it spans across that many internet forums, when you get banned from them because of it, when the stories become so familiar with everyone then it is probably not just a bad experience or two.

I have my issue with you guys and after this many years I just move along but the claim of "every company has complaints" there are many that do not reach the level you have on so many different forums.
I do not think using the possibility you could occasionally have problems is a good answer to a magnitude of problems all over the place. Most forums protect vendors because they pay fee's to be vendors, so the fact you got banned says there is something there more than the occasional problem.

As I said its a sad situation because its been heard so many times that things are changing. Then things start happening again.
It's Friday so things are pretty quiet but they have been quiet all week so if you like I can look a little further towards more specific instances if you would like.

I have the time why not back up what I have said hell that NASOC thread even talks about all the others hints why its 60 pages long and even has some information on my ordeal and other MR2 ones as well.

That is a great road! I also like the road just west of that, the 261 between Mexican Hay Lake and the 260. Much shorter in length but pretty intense.

I even found an old picture of his car and the "sweet" work Vivid did to it.

There were also claims of redoing the head gasket and other build items and when I took the valve cover off that was obviously never done.

I have heard so many stories about new management, and so and so taking over hell there are threads on here about it I believe but certainly else where as I have shown and that was just a broad Google search.
Frankly there is always a story, always someone new trying to fix it and then the game begins again.

All I can do is shake my head because frankly no matter what the name carries a long history of the same thing over and over and it may have changed but the odds of it being believed are next to none. Really a sad situation.
So your personal issue was not with something you had done, but from someone other than yourself...on a car you bought....and I can only guess, but from what they told you was done............not exactly what I would call a "personal issue", a "second hand story" yes.....

I have been dealing with Vivid over 10 years now, never a problem, never an issue.......They have even done stuff for me that other shops said was impossible.

Am I just lucky???? Maybe, but really, unless you have had actual dealings with them directly and something went wrong I do not think its fair to bad mouth them. Just saying...........

I am not saying they are perfect, every shop has to have an issue once in a while.......for me I have never had any.

I picked the car up from Vivid's back lot a member of Vivid's Staff had to open the gate to let me in who actually bad mouthed the customer. I got a story from them about how they were taking in hopeless cases according to this employee and needed to stop, all the things they had supposedly tried, how the customer was unreasonable and so on.
So no my experience is from direct contact which is why it has had such a lasting impression. In fact I still have a picture in my photobucket of the way the interior looked when I picked it up.

This was 2007... and now that I look at the MR2 again it makes me miss all my Turbo MR2's... lol

I really don't want to jump into all of this but I will say from personal experience that I, for one, have not had anything bad to say. Granted I bought the Injen intake and it kept stalling my car but again this had nothing to do with Vivid. Vivid gave me a KILLER deal on the products that I have bought. Also very friendly, again I might be another "lucky" one. Just throwing out an unbiased opinion.

I'll go ahead and throw in my two cents here....cause why the hell not?

Vivid Racing is like the Nickelback of the aftermarket world. They sell a ton of stuff and have for years but they are the most hated company on this forum and many others. Now, is that hate deserved? Some of it is. I'm very aware of the history of Vivid. But some of that hate is just the natural hive mentality of the internet.

The bonds of hate are much stronger than the bonds of affection when you're dealing with groups. What I mean by that is a group of people will feel a stronger emotional reaction and closeness with people who they share a mutual hatred of something than they do a mutual appreciation. This is why the internet, in general, is a place where people love to complain and really enjoy joining others with similar complaints.

What this tends to do is exaggerate the evils of many things, Vivid being one of them in my opinion. I've had a few interactions with them and they've all been very positive. But my few positive interactions will never change the hive mind that has already been set. What doesn't help is when people continue to have problems with a company, such as Jack43, that just adds fuel to a fire that is already burning out of control. I don't see a way for any company like Vivid to ever shake the label they've been given. Everything on the internet is written in ink and can be easily found. Changing the opinion of the hive mind is nearly impossible because someone will always bring up some incident that happened back in 200X and how the company is still the exact same.

The point of all this? I don't think Vivid is as evil a company as they're made out to be. Like Nickelback, they're the easiest to hate and there of plenty of people who will back you up for your feelings towards them. They'd basically have to walk on water for a number of years and not have any issues or complaints to ever have a chance of getting back the respect of the community because everything they do wrong will be magnified because of their history.

For my part, I'll continue to keep them as an option for my aftermarket needs. Cause hey, as much as I'm ashamed to say it, I think that "This is How You Remind Me" was a good song.

That is a very well thought out and logical statement, I personally agree it is very common to see the theme of distaste for a group uniting others. But then I also spend time on CSi OT and 4Chan... both of those can show you the extreme's of many of the situations to which you speak of.

For me I am more than willing to believe Vivid can or has changed, but yes its hard with things continuing to come up such as the issues in the dyno threads they posted here on FT-86 or Jack43's large issue (Sorry anything that's at the 7k mark is a big issue) that make it hard to shake such feelings. I have wanted to make that clear though which is why I stated it to be a sad situation. It is, and that's what makes it a hard situation to deal with.

However I will disagree with you on Nickelback, I enjoy some of their songs

I'm not sure what started all this, and I don't really care, but it IS fairly stupid. I'm simply following up with Vivid about a request I made here a while back. I know they can't PM me because the Admin still has my PMs locked. I've heard some bad things about vivid, and I've heard some good things. I'll spend my money where I can get a good deal on an item I want. Lets be honest, if someone has a good experience with a shop, they'll tell a friend or two; if they have a bad experience, they'll tell everyone. I feel no loyalty to any given shop because I just buy parts from them, they aren't making me something. If I have a bad experience, I'll buy parts from someone else.

Now, can we stop crucifying a shop for things you've heard about second hand, or things that happened years ago.

I agree, it totally it is a sad situation. I feel for people like Jacky that have to deal with the baggage of a company that happened before they were there. And I never said I didn't like Nickelback! I personally think that "Rock Star" was a good song and video. And there's nothing better than when "Something in Your Mouth" comes on in the gentleman's club. I just get pissed off cause they never tell you what the hell was on Joey's head.

Didn't get the impression anyone here was going with second hand or just old information.
Was the member who posted here a years ago situation? (Jack43)
Are the Dyno Threads years ago information?

Trying to place things in the past when they are still occurring is why history is important. Many of us are good natured and want to believe things can change but history is one of those things that once it happens it can not be changed. So seeing a pattern of events that appears to still be going on is one of those situations where it pays to pay attention to the past.
