this thread has links to most of the turbo kit numbers. Pretty sure i saw full blown get 500 whp on their dyno chart somewhere then they took it to the track and did a 1/4 mile run and had a youtube video up. How long that would hold up on track use or abusive driving i have no idea. That was a long time ago too they may have higher numbers now but that was also at a super high psi.

See its media like this...

Not to say what happened isnt sad but...

How do they know he was drag racing? How come no mention of another racer? Wouldnt he be equally as responsible? Why do they have to call it street racing or drag racing...why cant they just say the guy was speeding. What other details are missing that would allow two cars to hit head on. I am assuming since he was on drugs that he was going the wrong way into on coming traffic. But if thats the case how did the dad not see a car coming right at him. It always makes me wonder in head on collisions how the "normal driver" doesnt see someone coming right at them.

Now that the media titled it street racing that just feeds the stereotype the public has of modified cars and now has cops breathing down the tail of every car with an exhaust.

No one knows. This depends on driving style, weather conditions, consistency of fuel etc. Wait 1-2 years then come back and ask the same question. If you are a daily driver, and are not comfortable working on your engine and or the idea of replacing something within a few months avoid forced induction on your daily. A lot of the higher horsepower cars are shop cars that rarely get driven, and if they do its a few passes at the track etc. A majority of the aggressively powered cars are lower power and or ready for a new motor in the case it goes out. This engine has a high compression from the factory and only time will tell how well it will do. The fact timing has to be pulled so much with such little boost off the bat says enough to me.

I daily with boost... and I am fully aware of what could happen and the $$ and time I will have to invest if the motor goes out on me. A simple on "bolt on magical" upgrade never really exists there is always something that can go wrong. I actually got a quote for a short block in the event i had a problem prior to installing my supercharger.

As the saying goes, Cheap, Reliable and Fast pick two.

For me this car stop's N/A even if the idea of more power is fun. Get a toy to make really fast and get a daily that's fun and enjoyable. Best advice I can give.

I like to be a smart consumer who watches for the right deals at times but I also know when not to skimp. Reliability is always in the forefront for me, which is why the Vette may be very well built but its still N/A. I just want to be able to enjoy my vehicles not be worried when they will go boom.
Yes its fully forged and a Supercharger would really take it to scary levels of power but would it last and it so hard to stop with boost, your just a pulley or the turn of a screw away from more power... I have been prepping for Nitrous though I will admit... Some of these turbo 4cyl. have given me some runs for my money so I wanted something that would give me the ability to add a little more power. But even then I have been overly cautious going forward with it... I just don't like the idea of what could go wrong all for a little more power.

On a side note if you guys want to see the Vette in Action, Friday at 4PM it will be on the Dyno at AZ Dynochip getting new Dyno Numbers and then Saturday it will be at SIR Drag Strip for the Grudge Match races and hopefully to get my 11.xx time on street radials and get kicked off the track for not having a cage in a convertible.

Doesn't matter how good of a driver you are. If you think because your car has better handling and that you have good reactions that you'll be able to avoid head on collisions...you're just fooling yourself.

I'm sorry but did anyone else scream "Surprise" on that third video? I couldn't help it.

That first video it seemed like the driver started hogging the middle looking to pass the RV when
1. There was no room to legally pass as it looked like a solid line and there were tons of traffic on the other side
2. He was right up on that RVs ass, if he would of been traveling at a safe distance behind the RV he would have seen the RV hit by that truck and been able to come to a stop before it even hit him.

Sure it was the other guys fault but couldnt something be said for the guy about to pass in a single lane and riding too close to the vehicle in front of him? But i bet if this went to the news he would have been considered the "normal driver" but really isnt the case

The second video woah takes head on collision way out of context lol that was more like out of the sky is a bird its a plane its a car. No one could have seen that coming. Not really something i would consider a head on collision.

When i think head on collision i think all 4 wheels of each car have to be on the ground and they have to be each hit eachother in the front-ish area.

The only thing I'm going to say to this is, the key word you used was "seemed". You have no idea what really happened unless you were the one driving. I've witnessed one crazy crash in my lifetime and it was a guy going straight on a road right next to me with no other cars and he ended up swerving, tried to avoid me and then went up a rock cliff on the side of the road. Did the tire blow, was it the brakes, suspension, driver? I have no idea. But it happened. You can't predict everything and you can't avoid everything...Especially in these parts.

True that...

Partially why im scared to take the bike to work. Joy riding on the weekend is one thing. Commuting on the freeway daily with the Phoenix drivers is another.

Doesn't matter where you drive or when you drive, there's always a risk. But I won't let that prevent me from having good times with buddies. Live life to the fullest.

I was rear ended with a hit and run but I still ride. Just wear proper gear and ride vigilant
