Edit: I guess that they're not called a co-driver, but instead a passenger...

No, if they're not driving, they can just show up and ride along.
Your EDIT comment is right on point. |

A friend showed me this page today. Looks pretty sweet
http://www.automatic.com/ Logs data via a (proprietary?) ODB2 bluetooth adapter. Interface looks really nice. Wish I could just buy the app and use it with the adapter I already own... I don't know if it'd be worth $70 to me. I have no real use for trying to conserve fuel, because sportscar... Edit: It's funny that they only show women in this commercial for it (aside from the employee talking about it) [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AyXNeRbpRk"]Automatic — Your Smart Driving Assistant - YouTube[/ame]

taken from the website... I have a feeling it would fucking just beep all the time.... Driving Feedback Automatic learns about your driving style and gives you subtle audio cues when you do things that waste gas, like: Rough Braking Braking abruptly decreases fuel efficiency and dramatically increases wear-and-tear on your car’s brake pads. Speeding Highway speeding may not save you much time, but driving 10 MPH over the speed limit reduces fuel efficiency by 12-15%. Rapid Acceleration Stepping hard on the gas pedal decreases fuel efficiency and wastes money. |

That's just like the progressive thing. It beeps all the time if you brake hard or floor it. Still want to take one of these to autocross.
