Pa's DMV calls it a Toyota, the insurance company calls it a Scion...
When I get asked frequently: "what kind of car is that?", I smile and answer "cheap" with a grin on my face. Let them figure out what it is, badges have been removed except for the Scion badge on the hood. The rear just has the 86 badge.

My 08 TC said Toyota....

And if your ins. has it listed as a TC...it's cheaper. Mine went up $70 a year. Not a huge difference but eh

Part of the discrepancy, as you've observed, is because some insurance companies list Scion as a separate brand, while others may list it as a model under Toyota (i.e. 2013 Toyota Scion FR-S). It will really depend on what their underwriters decided when the Scion range first launched, which dictates how that company lists it. Off the top of my head, Safeco, Farmers, Progressive and Dairyland list it under Toyota.

I'm surprised it doesn't say Subaru on it, your VIN belongs to Fuji.

Yup, Toyota on the registration, Scion FR-s on the insurance card and the badges, and Subaru on the engine and nameplate on the door frame (Fuji Industries). I'm telling people that it's a hybrid.

I refinanced the frs through my credit union... they had a heck of a time deciding what to call it in their documents lol
