Good to know! I'm considering doing the same on my end.

For those with gear grinds in higher gears, dont skip gears. Go from 2 -3-4-5-6th.
S2000 and other Aisin trans had same problem eating syncros going from higher load 2nd or 3rd into 5th or 6th.

Those who shift from 3rd to 5th or 6th after high revs who get grinds wont be helped by trans fluid.

But shift performance namely in extreme cold and hot will for sure.

Shift slower if skipping gears. It's a no brainer. If you're skipping gears you shouldn't be "on it" anyway.

Do you really want to save your synchros? Double clutch on your downshifts it essentially negates their purpose. Drive a 1960's Alfa or Lotus and the synchros only last for 20k miles, after that you essentially had a synchro-less tranny and if you didn't learn to double clutch, you weren't ever going to be shifting down.

Ok tranny/oil experts

So... Where I live and for spring to winter which is when the car sees it only miles my ambient ranges from 32-95F. My car is at 4.2 miles or 7500km+. Dealer changed first oil change however still original tranny oil. Therefore as this thread went all over the map lol... Which out of all discussed would be optimum choice for "my" car???

Ok I think I found someone up here that has the oil.

To clarify for tranny and diff oil

Transmission: Redline MTL GL4 70W80

Rear Differential:
Motul Gear 300 GL4/GL5 75W90

These are the exact lubricants being discussed correct? No other additives or such for the motul for rear diff required?

I've had very good results with Redline MTL + 80w140 gear oil combo.

This topic is about the synchros but the position of the selection plate is also very sensitive on this car. If you are having to blip every time when changing down to second, always missing gear when shifting up to 3rd, or your reverse lockout collar feels like it doesn't lift high enough, then you need to have this plate adjusted. You have to drop the gearbox and remove the bolts around the shifter/surround, then have someone sit in the car and test shift to determine the best position to bolt it down.

Can you elaborate? DO you mean (as I think you do):

1. Undo the gearbox support collar (Where the Cusco, Perrin, etc mounts go) to allow the gearbox some movement so you can move it within the tolerance of the bolts for the collar

2. Take off the top plate which has the reverse lockout tab on it to give you a true range of movement.

3. When you have the best position by moving the box within the range of tolerance, tighten it all up again.

If not can you given a step-by-step?
